I'm from Dallas, Tx. and about 1 1/2 years ago my brother in-law(worked for towing service, towed for Garland PD) told me about a Supra in police custody in Garland. Supposedly the only way the cops got the owner was finding and arresting him as he came out of a store. From what we've been led to believe; they could not catch this car. The cops say that they had clocked this car at no less that 230 mph. This car was destined for the crusher. A silver supra very similar to the one on the first The Fast and The Furious. About a month after the proposed fateful day I heard rumors that the Toyato corparation had "aquired" an unbeatable silver Supra. I was elated by this news, but am still unsure. Does anyone Have any possible further information.

Quick question, when did the tooth fairy start giving out jet engines to supra owners, and a set of wings? The only way a supra could reach that speed is if it was dropped out a plane at 30,000 feet. The first F&F supra only had about 670 HP which is not even close to reaching anywhere near that speed.

First of all I said that I looked like the Supra from the F&F. Secondly anyone with any sense will realize that your car can go as fast as your bank account. The reason the cops were after this car is it was one of the top drug runners around. The drug industry doesn't want their stuff to get taken and they had obviously put alot of money into this car.

I think you could push a supra well over 230mph. My friends 86 scirracco wil hit 176 off a little 1.6L four banger and a jetta transmission. I've gotten my 1988 Supra to hit 166 before the engine shut itself off.

I saw the same vid... the car hit 215.7 the got sideways and flipped... that car was designed to go at high speeds no way a supra could do it on the roads

im in las vegas and work at the race track yes its verry possible that a 3 gen supra can reach that speed and 7-8 second QM's ever herd of supras invade vegas. ask them if you dont believe that guy.

well heres the deal... i dont doubt per say that a supra can get up to or even maybe past 230... but lets think real, those cars are god damned heavy, and unless u lighten the hell out of that car ur not hittin no 60 mph from a standstill in freaking 1.056 buddy... unless of course u blow it out of a cannon. after a while maybe with all that weight you can keep the thing on the ground going 230 MAYBE on the worlds straightest road for a long time... but other then that i think maybe 180-200 sounds more like a beleiveable story.

a supra can reach that speed, JUN made a supra called the "200 mile supra" that could top 200, and they also made the "akira supra" that hit 249mph, on the roadgoing supra platform, however a 230mph road-legal supra that you can drive to the store ? sounds unlikely.

Looks like a couple of you guys need a quick lecture on how supras are doing on the tracks these days. *clears throat*

A 1500HP supra running 8's sounds un-likely. you should run a search for the name Marko D. Has most of his work done out of Sound Performance. Last time he dyno'ed the car it came out to 1520hp on race gas, no meth, no nitrous. And he made mid 8 second passes on his daily driven street car, I don't say that he had it trailered out there and back home, he drove it to the track and drove it back home.

Still don't believe me, look up the name Garth Weaver, runs Virtual Works out in Arizona. Before he sold his car to a guy in NC, he was making 8 second passes on 1034HP. This out of a car that during work hours, they go to get their coffee and lunch with. A supra with that much power and making 8 second passes can be done, but whoever this guy is who's claiming that is probably running his mouth.

Would you like to hear about how some of the 6 speed supras are doing?

Ryan Woon broke into the 8's a couple of months ago on a STOCK 6 speed tranny, as well as efantis did on a slipping clutch. And when you want to get crazy, look up a guy named Vinny ten, running a 6 second pass on a full out drag car.

supras are like road cows there reeeeeeeeeally heavy so to be running any of those looney numbers posted by person whos name i forgot youd have to spend a butt ass load of money lightening that car.

uhh ok, while you think that, you should look at all of those cars, they are full weight and full trim. Next time, you should do some research or at least know what your talking about.

I have been looking for an MKIV for a damn long time now (went to look at several, im just being picky at this point). I have also done more damn research on this car then any other car ever made. I can say that any one who knows this car knows that 1000+HP is so damn common out of the 2JZ it might as well have come stock with it. 1000+HP AND FULL WEIGHT is also damn common, and very real. Speeds in the 180, 190, 200 mph range are also common out of a JZA80. BUT... I find it damn hard to believe that some lunatic was able to run his supra at 230 on the street, and with enough frequency that the police had to track him down and pick him up. That infernal movie made a whole generation of civic owners think that anything is possible, thanks to RICE!!! NO ONE IN THE WORLD could drive at that kind of speed frequently enough on city streets to warrant at onslaught of cops taking you down after your dinner. I live in Illinois, and where I live there is no way i could run that hot and have room to move around traffic. PLUS at 230 mph, if i went north east or west i would be in a god damn other state in an hour, but only after i filled up the tank with 110. SO all you people saying that the numbers posted are bogus, READ and RESEARCH before you start talking. People are making sick numbers now and they are only going to get better as technology improves. And as for our 230 mph Vin Disel, i would take that with a grain of salt! That’s just my two cents.

You do not need to outrun the radio, just the cop that's making the transmission. If you are past his line of sight, he can't give your position. But anyways, this is a dead issue.
