Are there Problems With 305 Motors? 99 5.3s?Pekoe 11-04-2004, 09:44 AM I am looking at a number of 96-98 Silverado 4x4s and some have 305 motor. I had to replace one in an 86 Chevy and thought they had a bad reputation. My inclination is to just go with a 350. I have also heard piston slapping issues with 99 5.3s. Should I stay away from 305s and 5.3s? Thanks Barry joe92k1500 11-04-2004, 10:01 AM I have a '92 k1500 w/305 and 184kmi. No leaks, oil burning, or hard starts - ever!!. Jeremy-WI 11-04-2004, 04:48 PM I have a 96 K1500 with over 170K on it and no major problems. I did have to replace a fuel pressure regulator and when I found out the price online for MFI injectors with a new regulator I replaced injectors too vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
