I see you got the engine back together. When was the fluid and filter changed?

actually I am still messing with the engine. Just something that popped up when I was trying junkyard motors. I noticed it. Well thats a good question I will change it all when the motor goes in it. From what I understand the car has been sitting since oh probably 2000. So who Knows.

If you change the fluid be sure to drain the torque converter also.

i have to support that notion... definitely drain the torque converter as well.

If I drain the converter and the trans. I fill the converter back up before I slide it back into place. How much fluid will the tranny hold minus the converter?

95 Service manual says 13.9 quarts but to use the dipstick to determine the exact fill requirements. It doesn't say if this includes the tc.

Yeah mine does the same thing. It takes a second for it to engage, and then there is a slight clunk. I had the u-joints replaced but to no avail. Any ideas?

The TC will hold in the neighborhood of 10 quarts. The other 4 are in the valve body, pump, accumulators, or sitting in the pan.

For me, it takes a good ONE MISSISSIPI (or a full second) to get in gear. Going into reverse takes just a hair longer. I had to get used to NOT jumping on the pedal..just wait till it gets in gear, then gas it-or else you get that reverse nuetral drops jerk, which is vewwy vewwy bad.

Also, why the hell do front wheel drive car get into gears faster..??? All the fwd's i drove go into reverse in the blind of an eye. Every RWD i've been in takes longer.

are you guys talking about automatics? Mine is like that as well. Sometimes when I put it into drive from reverse it makes the soft grumbling noise from the tranny then a real loud CLINK. Its done that forever, and im used to it so i just wait till it gets in gear like solaris said. Also if I punch the gas, a lot of times it will keep revving up almost to red line before it will shift. sometimes it even screeches the tires when im already doin 60 or more. the trans handles it fine, it doesnt shake or anything. I get the worst shifts sometimes when im driving normal with a few passengers, goin into third it will jerk like I mis-shifted, but i cant mis-shift considering its an auto. nothing i can do about it though, im not really asking for help, im just talkin.
