AC Clicking noise 1997 EBTSMilliner 11-03-2004, 09:29 PM My 1997 Explorer recently started making a clicking noise when the temp on the ac is turned down. If you turn up warmer clicking stops and you can gradually bring down temp as vehicle cools. Sitting at light ac kicks off and goes to very warm air unless max ac is selected. Anyone else have this issue and how did you fix. I want to get 1 more year out of car so don't want to take to ac expert if I don't have to. Thanks, Tom BiltWelRestoration 11-05-2004, 05:21 AM Sounds like your compressor clutch or the compressor itself is going out need to have a qualified A/C tech look at that molehole 11-05-2004, 11:48 AM Sounds to me like it is low on freon if it is clicking on and off quickly. R-134 is only like $5 a can so it should be a pretty cheap fix if it just that. Try and finf the stuff with leak sealer in it so it will fill little air leaks. Also if that doesn't do it freon could be escaping out your compressor clutch. Good luck vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
