View Full Version : Tutorial : Intercoolers. Tutorial : Intercoolers. pre98zetec 11-03-2004, 07:10 PM Find a pic you want to put the intercooler on, as seen below its my recent WIP. (thanks bulldogg for the rims;)) (front ends diff here) http://img127.exs.cx/img127/2608/s.jpg Step 2: Find a good donor pics with the intercooler in it, This one was a quick search at google.com to find. http://img127.exs.cx/img127/1625/intercooler.jpg Step 3: Lasso in the intercooler (don't have to be perfect, most will be erased around the edges) http://img127.exs.cx/img127/4184/step1.jpg Step 4: Copy/Paste onto car (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) http://img127.exs.cx/img127/8312/step4.jpg Step 5: Since this intercoolers facing the other way you need to flip it horizontally, (Edit-Transform-flip horizontal.) http://img127.exs.cx/img127/1450/step5.jpg Step 6: Hit transform free transform (Ctrl+T, Or Edit-Free Transform) http://img127.exs.cx/img127/5103/step6.jpg Step 7: Play around, reduce the size, Hold Ctrl drag mouse. Just make it line up. http://img127.exs.cx/img127/4792/step7.jpg Step 8: Reduce opacity to around 20-30%. http://img127.exs.cx/img127/9123/step8.jpg Step 9: Zoom in, select the parts ONLY on the car body you dont want.(Might have to do this a few times) Hit delete after you do it. http://img127.exs.cx/img127/2065/step9.jpg Step 9 (continued) Select the bottom part now.(Hit delete too) http://img127.exs.cx/img127/2708/step9-10.jpg Step 10: Raise the opacity back to 100% and see how it looks so far (might need more tweaking) Look's pretty good so far eh? http://img127.exs.cx/img127/6378/step10.jpg Step 11: Lower the brightness a tad. (Image-Adjustments-Brightness/Contrast) http://img103.exs.cx/img103/1118/step11.jpg Step 12: Select around the car and the intercooler, just a little strip. http://img126.exs.cx/img126/5438/step13.jpg Step 13: Get out your brush(the fuzzy lookin one, number 13 size), turn the opacity down to around 80% and brush near the edge to give it the "in the bumper" look. http://img127.exs.cx/img127/5438/step13.jpg Step 14: Do the same to the side now. http://img127.exs.cx/img127/7972/step14.jpg Thats pretty much it, You can add Intercooler piping if you want. On this particular car, You would not see it so it would not matter. Other cars might need some more work to get to look right but thats just the basic overveiw on how to do it, as a member requested a tutorial. Hopefully this will help some people. Stingray 60 11-03-2004, 07:36 PM Ska8rer! You've just helped LOT of new people with that very nicly done tutorial. I mean it applies to almost anything, not just coolers.. Next time a noobie ask how to change wheels or such this is a great thread to point them to.. somtimes they need those nice visual aids, step by step. Great job!! pre98zetec 11-03-2004, 08:13 PM Thanks, atleast I've helped out a few :) ZedEx 11-03-2004, 08:22 PM You should be a moderator in this section dude... Great tutorial, it should help a lot of the new guys out. -Wes BuLLDoGG 11-04-2004, 07:10 AM nice tutorial bro, however when u put intercooler in the bay as deep as the one in eclipse u should darken the upper part of intercooler and make it less bright, this will add to realism. by the way fix the rims, especialy back one and dont forget toerase nismo logo from them, otherwise eclipse and nismo rims dont make much sense ;) CobraR2000 11-07-2004, 10:40 PM wow very nicely detailed, im gonna try it on the car im working on in school, a red Saleen S281 thatll hopefully be done soon.
