'03 golf GTI VR6 specs?mellowboy 11-03-2004, 10:47 AM As the subject says.. I want to know what it does in a 1/4 mile actually. I'm very close into buying one at a very good deal. Also give me some sites that sells N/A aftermarket products on this ride. Thanks :) Dr.Gonzo 11-03-2004, 11:58 PM Try www.vwvortex.com that become a member go to the 24 valve part and get advice. I now neuspeed,GHL, GIAC(it's a computer chip) and Schrick are selling aftermarket parts for it. The problem is the 24valve VR6 was only sold for 2 years so not a lot of aftermarket parts have been made for it. I know www.eiptuning.com can help ask for Rich and if you become a vwvortex member you will get a %10 discount. I know vfwengineering sells super chargers for them I think C2 motorsports also sells stuff for them. Try UnorthodoxyRacing they might have some stuff like pullies and a lightened flywheel for the 24v VR6. Not too sure on other companies. mellowboy 11-07-2004, 09:05 AM Thanks. civicHBsi91 11-07-2004, 01:18 PM As the subject says.. I want to know what it does in a 1/4 mile actually. If you want fast 1/4 times get a 1.8T if you want to hear that sweet roar it put's out than get a vr6. mellowboy 11-07-2004, 06:08 PM From what i've been told that the vr6 is faster in the 1/4 mile in stock form. I'm still tryin to find out how fast it goes. I know the 1.8t is like 15.2. civicHBsi91 11-08-2004, 01:10 PM The 1.8T is made way faster with little mods. aggv 11-08-2004, 04:42 PM But the VR has more potential, and better power delievery civicHBsi91 11-08-2004, 07:52 PM the 1.8T has way more potential, better aftermarket and with simple things as a chip they can smoke vr's, vr's are more expensive to own and repair if needed. mellowboy 11-09-2004, 07:46 AM Both have lots of potential. I'm stickin with vr6. I've done my research.... DinanM3_S2 11-09-2004, 04:37 PM Potential is almost completely based on displacement. The VR6 is capable of more power then the 1.8t. I know how easy it is to modify a 1.8t up past VR6 stats with a simple chip, but from then on it gets harder and harder to squeeze any more power out. The VR6, with a turbocharger, would demolish most 1.8t's. So if you have limited money to modify, the 1.8t can be made to be faster then the VR pretty easily, but as your money to modify increases, the better and better the VR becomes. mellowboy 11-09-2004, 09:09 PM Yeh i was thinkin goin all motor with the VR6. I wonder if its any good in the N/A form? civicHBsi91 11-09-2004, 09:16 PM People usually dont have thousands and thousands of dollars to drop on a turbo kit. Im pretty sure the vr6 is already cramped in the engine bay and could imagine you would have to drop the motor to do certain things just like my friends corrado vr6. 1.8T would just be your ideal for street and occasional strip use. Theres not a modified vr6 around here that could hang with any 1.8T 1 probaby because no one could afford a turbo for a vr6 and theres some 11 second 1.8T rabbits runnin around. I know they arent in the car we are talking about but still. gti1689 11-09-2004, 09:47 PM i dont know what you define as expensive, but the turbo kit is about 4500 anf the supercharger (stage 1) is about 3500. What are some good header companies for the vr6? civicHBsi91 11-10-2004, 03:23 AM If 4,500 is not expensive then please let me borrow some money.... mellowboy 11-10-2004, 07:32 AM ^But you made it sound way more than 4500^ ;) gti1689 11-10-2004, 08:16 AM i couldn't find any companies that make headers for the vr6, but w/those bolt ons and/or the supercharger/turbo u should have more than enough power. U might also want to upgrade the suspension in order to deal w/ the new power. btw, a short shift kit, new spark plags, and a nice oil change will always free up some power, and give u better times (to satisfy the budget enthusiat). have fun w/the new car, and i would love to hear about the upgrades that you make. from experince, the chip does make a small, but noticable change in power. mellowboy 11-10-2004, 08:23 AM Yeh i'll definitely keep you updated. I want to go all motor but i'll see if theres some companies that makes headers for the vr6. :) gti1689 11-10-2004, 08:26 AM wow, must have said "power" at least 50 times in that last post. for suspension mods check out the h and r cup kit (type in h and r suspension kits in google, i forgot the site http), and if u need something cheaper check out their selection of spring kits. the cup kit is about 550, and the springs are about 180 (for the set...i think). mellowboy 11-10-2004, 08:28 AM I'm already thinkin about the neuspeed suspension set up. I've experianced with them before and i loved it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
