I have a 2004 GMC 2500 CrewCab 4x4 pickup that vibrates between 40-50 MPH and it is driving me insane. I have carried it to the dealer twice and they keep telling me this is normal operation. I told them my 1965 Ford doesn't vibrate I would expect my 2004 shouldn't either! If anyone has one of these pickups can you please let me know. I am curious if their trucks does the same thing.

It should not vibrate at all. If your dealer says it is normal it is not. My 01' doesn't vibrate even at 85!
Call GM Customer Assurance and turn that dealer in...whatta ass!

I have the same 2004, GMC 2500 CrewCab 4x4 , duramax and I have found that the exhaust shield rattles or resonates at 1,750 rpm, which is right at 57 mph (in high gear). To top it off, my dealer added some xtra long running boards that when pulled off proove that they add about 75% more racket to the problem.. Effectively I bought a 50,000 truck that rattles and all the dealer can do is give dumb looks.

I have a 2005 GMC 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 with Duramax and have a bad drivetrain vibration from 50-60 mph with 1000 lbs load. Also have bad launch shudder when pulling trailer. Dealer has had vehicle 3 different times for a total of 5 days and can not tell me what is wrong. Not sure who to call next.

I went up under the truck and to my amazement, there is a thin metal heat shield between the exhaust pipe and underside of the body. It is only held on by a couple of standoff screws. You can thump it and hear it ping... I also had the "blessing" of buying the Sherrod package (a local van customizor in Jaclksonville) who put extra long running boards on the side. With these boards on, the truck actually gives me a headache! (I have a '96 S10 with 180k miles that is quieter!).. With the running boards off the truck, I lose about 75% of the noise. ANyhow, I put my money on tacking that heat sheild down in a few more places to get rid of the rest of the noise... Have a look at your and tell me what you think, I;ll be interested and will let you know what I find if I do some custom work like I mentioned above...

IOK, I thought it was an exhaust issue, I take it back in (3rd time) and they now say they are going to replace the turbo's impellor... Hmm will be interesting. One other obsesrvation, It requires the engine to warm up b4 it starts resonating....

I'll let you know if their fix helps.

I have an 94 sierra 1500 with the same rattle, the dealer found a TSb pertaining to a rattle caused buy a flex cover, not sure location. The part is on order and now I wait and hope this fixes it. The tsb# is 02-06-05-003c. Hope this helps.
