Car shakes at 65mphbd2988 11-02-2004, 12:24 PM I have a 95 escort LX and when I get up to about 65 mph the steering is very loose and the car seems to shake. It's drivable at this speed but if I go above 70 it shakes more violently. I shook the tierods with my hand and they didn't budge... Any suggestions?? Snow93 11-02-2004, 02:31 PM Tires/Rims out of balance? thats my ownly guess.. Jet-Lee 11-02-2004, 02:33 PM :iagree: panzees36 11-02-2004, 06:55 PM Sounds like tires need balancing. Snow93 11-03-2004, 11:04 AM if worse comes to worse it could also be the shocks, or broken springs. If the balancing fails, get it done again and watch them like a hawk, caus it could be the rim thats bent.. Jet-Lee 11-03-2004, 12:14 PM bearings even? Snow93 11-03-2004, 12:48 PM hmm. if it was bearings wouldnt you hear them? even worse the rack and pinion couldbe goin =P but lets stick with the simplistic ones first lol.. (oh hey how exactly you remove these sealed bearing packs anyways? mine i getting rather old..) tonyajeans 11-10-2004, 04:07 PM We inherited a 91 ford with 55k and it was shaking at 65. My husband took it in for an oil change and they said our tire depth was bad on the front tires. So he bought new tires and it fixed the shake. His Uncle who is a mechanic thought for sure it was a balance issue. I would try new tires first. adrian m 11-10-2004, 04:33 PM tires need realignment/balancing Snow93 11-10-2004, 04:34 PM just get the periodicly rotated, should keep it from irregualer wear.. nkc 11-21-2004, 04:41 AM well, did you fix it? My 93 escort, 1.9L did the same thing, but I was told it was the oxogyn sensor. It was then replaced and then no shaking at 60 and above.. barretire 11-23-2004, 11:16 AM I have a 95 escort LX and when I get up to about 65 mph the steering is very loose and the car seems to shake. Check the inner tierods at these speeds I would rule out tires BentleyGroupin 11-26-2004, 04:45 PM also take a look at your front/rear struts, those a long process, takes a couple hours to fix them up vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
