I have a 92 Trooper LS 3.2 A/T (has winter mode). Sometimes it wants to start out in 3rd gear. Like Winter mode switch is engaged. I replaced the switch. But, it still does it. Any ideas.

winter mode starts in 3rd gear so as to not slip on ice.

did you get this figured out ?? does your speedo drop out also? if so then it would be your VSS (speed sensor) if not then could be your altenator.. sounds odd but that happened to mine !
