Progress: Lamborghini MurcielagoRallyRaider 11-01-2004, 03:27 AM Hi all, decided on a bit of a change of pace so ordered one of the newly released Fujimi Murcielago’s. Was a bit shocked at the amount of extra work that will be required to fix all of Fujimi’s shortcuts, I was expecting something better based on experience of their excellent GT40 kits. First here is the back end where the rear wheels have been moved back and lowered. I kinda knew about this problem from Veyron and Kunta’s build diaries. But I didn’t realise how narrow the front track was as well. Pretty easy to fix, but took 2.5mm of plastic card on either side to bring the front wheels out wide enough. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/Dscf3076a.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/Dscf3078a.jpg The result is probably a bit too low bit hopefully will be okay when everything is assembled and painted. Even though I stretched the wheelbase, the front wheels didn’t sit centrally in the arches so I added some bulk to the front part. You can see the white card just in front of the wheels. The rims are only black because I’ve stripped the chrome off, they will be silver plated later. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/Dscf3080a.jpg Brakes also need a bit of work. The rears aren’t too bad, especially when the PE form Acustion’s set is added. The fronts are way too small to my eye. So I’m replacing them with some larger disks from a Megane, and PE from a S27 Jag XJR-9LM set. The calliper has been separated so the PE face can fit properly. I will probably replace the callipers on the rear too, since the new ones look a bit closer to reality. I also screwed up, because the 40th anniversary kit doesn’t include the white Lamborghini script for the callipers, just black ones. So might have to do something weird with the calliper colour, like paint it green to match the body! What do you guys reckon? http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/Dscf3085a.jpg The kits engine detail is very spartan, I contemplated building it curbside. However, the Acustion PE set features some Lamborghini scripts for the induction boxes that will look pretty cool, so will have a go at jazzing it up. Here I’ve split up the single piece for the top of the engine so I can modify, paint and decal it. The heads, exhaust and ancillaries will need major work as Fujimi provide zero detail OOB. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/Dscf3087a.jpg Also lots of little things like the headlight have been very poorly done. Here I'm in the process of trying to correct the shape with some tiny pieces of plastic card. Also check out the rough mouldings, looks like the master was covered in sand or something :screwy: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/Dscf3088a.jpg Finally, here is the colour it is going to be. PPG Verde Ithaca, pearlescent metallic flue green. It comes in two coats, an almost fluorescent lime green base followed by the pearl. It finishes matt and needs a clear coat to give a shine. It's mixed from the actual paint codes from the real car. The pearl is very fine so I’m hoping it will look okay in scale. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/Dscf3092a.jpg JTRACING 11-01-2004, 03:58 AM Looks like you got most of the problems sorted out, this should become a work of art when your done! Nice colors also!! godfather23 11-01-2004, 04:15 AM Another RallyRaider Superbuild coming up. I really like that side shot, good choice to lower the ride, makes it look a lot more realisitic. And I think that the lowerage is just right, don´t worry, it´ll look great. NICE COLOR CHOICE, kinda waited for that one to appear on the board. Captain Mark 11-01-2004, 06:13 AM Damn I love the Murci... great write-up so far, keep it coming! I'm tucking all this info away for when I finally get my hands on one of these kits. Cheers. Veyron 11-01-2004, 07:11 AM Great start! I just have one question...is it legal for YOU to build a street car? :screwy:  Decs0105 11-01-2004, 07:17 AM Great start! I just have one question...is it legal for YOU to build a street car? :screwy:  hehe. I am really thinking about buying this kit but it looks like much extra work... but we will see, can't wait for the next update! nervestrikes 11-01-2004, 07:37 AM Yes Sir, I would say your looking sweet so far and I would also say that green is an excellent color choice. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/57665LAMBO_FRONT.jpg Vric 11-01-2004, 07:47 AM look kids, this is how you do "modelling" :D great job Phil LuisLopes 11-01-2004, 08:08 AM I am really thinking about buying this kit but it looks like much extra work... but we will see, can't wait for the next update! I'm thinking like you Thesaint111. Veyron and Kunta’s cars are very well built and i'm sure that RallyRaider's will be too. Let' see if I buy one too. RallyRaider , Keep up the good work and photos coming!!! Cheers! Tikiman 11-01-2004, 08:41 AM I really like the Murcielago, but am still uncertain whether i will ever buy another Fujimi kit. Are they all made of crappy waxy plastic with crummy details and bad moulding? Very nice build so far RR  DJPaul 11-01-2004, 10:31 AM :eek2: You are probably modeliholik! Simply amazing work! flyonthewall 11-01-2004, 10:34 AM Phil goes street  Looks like some neat work going on here Phil, will stay tuned. Porsche Carrera 11-01-2004, 10:54 AM Great improvements! :sunglasse ImolaEK 11-01-2004, 07:17 PM Nice progress! I have to agree, this kit is a bit off in many places. I read somewhere that the front noze shape is a bit off also. In a website where the owner of the site has this kit in progress also. site is www.warachan.com TireGaint 11-01-2004, 07:29 PM You know this kit cost about $50 CDN in Canada, it is just cheaper than the Tamiya Porsche CarreraGT and Ferrari Enzo.....but this Fujimi quality is sucks....poor brakes and chassis. mach1_2003 11-01-2004, 08:11 PM Fantastic start, looking forward to more progress. Layla's Keeper 11-01-2004, 08:19 PM Very impressive the way you're correcting the little flaws and I love how you've disassembled the engine insert to try and detail it out. Hope this one goes well for you, and I have to agree - that is a perfectly slutty color for a Lamborghini. RallyRaider 11-01-2004, 08:23 PM Thanks guys, I thought me doing a street car might raise some eyebrows :) Great link there RB26DETT-GTR, his solution of sanding the rear wheel arches forward is a bit easier than moving the wheels back! It seems somehow unjust that while the Enzo and Carrera GT were given the royal treatment by Tamiya, Fujimi have severly shortchanged the Murcielago in comparison. :( WeaPoN [X] 11-01-2004, 08:28 PM Awesome progress! I never knew they had a PE set for this car. JeFF chaos 11-02-2004, 01:00 AM Got my attention, sir!! :) Bas Carwash 11-02-2004, 03:27 AM Nice and needfull detailing there. It's a very good start. I think the color is awesome. Really want to see that color on the finished car :D pettercardoso 11-02-2004, 03:44 AM Yes sir. You certainly raised some eyebrows  Well, it's really a shame that Fujimi didn't go all the way with this car...it would be very nice to have a "tamiya-quality" Murci next to the Enzo and the Carrera GT...Oh well...I guess this just makes me want this kit even more, so I can devellop my modelling skills a little bit more, and a make a decent kit out of it  I'm sure you'll end up with a great car, Phil, in spite of the colour wich I really don't like....eheh The one thing Fujmi seemed to get right were the wheels. Are you spraying them chrome or any other colour? Please do keep us posted on this one. I'm still wainting for some progress on the GT40....eheh Best Regards, Pedro. ol' dude 11-02-2004, 08:38 AM I know your build will be sweet!! Keep us posted on the progress!! RallyRaider 11-02-2004, 04:36 PM ']Awesome progress! I never knew they had a PE set for this car. JeFF Thanks Jeff, the PE set is from Acustion, a bit pricy and not that great, but worth it for some useful parts. MediaMix, amongst others, have them in stock. (http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2455) Fujimi also do a Deluxe Murcielago kit which has some PE in it. Had to go and order one for the little Lamborghini scripts  I'm sure you'll end up with a great car, Phil, in spite of the colour wich I really don't like....eheh The one thing Fujmi seemed to get right were the wheels. Are you spraying them chrome or any other colour? Please do keep us posted on this one. I'm still wainting for some progress on the GT40....eheh Best Regards, Pedro. Which colours do you like Pedro? There are so many great options for Lamborghini's it is hard to decide on just one! Yeah the wheels do seem pretty good, it is just their location that is screwed up. And the P-Zero Pirellis are not "handed". I'll be painting the rims chrome or polished aluminium, not too bright. I'm aiming to get the GT40 finished for the Le Mans Comp, still a long way to go there. :) tonioseven 11-02-2004, 04:43 PM Great work so far, Phil!!:sunglasse pettercardoso 11-02-2004, 06:23 PM Which colours do you like Pedro? I'm aiming to get the GT40 finished for the Le Mans Comp, still a long way to go there. :) I perfectly understand your colour indecision. Lamborghinis look good in almost every colour, except white and that green you've chosen (IMHO) eheh After Veyron and Kunta completed their red versions, I changed my mind and now I agree that red suits the car very, very well. On the other hand, I wouldn't like to see a Ferrari-Red Lambo, I guess it just wouldn't look right, if you know what I mean. Probably a solid dark red, or with a little blue hint to it, kinda of "purplish". Also, there's a Jota around here somewhere that has a great Blue on it. Very dark, almost black. Although I love metallic paint, and I've done 2 or 3 cars/bike with it, I think all italian cars should have solid colours. Don't ask me why, it's just the way I see it... Black would also be a very nice choice. I know it's not a very good colour to show off those gorgeous lines, it kind of "kills the spirit", but hey, I like it :) The other obvious choices that I would never go for would be Yellow and that baby blue the 40th Ani. Ed. has (wich I really hate too..eheh). Now, after all this rambling, I would suggest.....dark solid grey! It's not a very common colour for italian cars (zhe germans love it, though eheh), and I'm sure it would look much better than that idious green  On the wheels, I'm really happy that you said "not too bright." :) Man, this time I really got carried away. Sorry for any inconvenience :D RallyRaider 11-02-2004, 08:49 PM Thanks for getting carried away Pedro. However since I already have the paint I think I will stick with the Verde Ithaca. It was the colour specially made for the Murcielago, although similar light greens had been used occasionaly on Lamborghinis previously. Here's the inspiration :) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/RallyRaider/Murcielago/669127_03_640b.jpg mike united 11-02-2004, 08:53 PM Looking at that pic it cant be very difficult for anyone to be inspired !!! Cant wait to see some paint on yours, Mike :sunglasse Samurai75007 11-03-2004, 12:51 PM nice, I hope to start on my few projects when I get some time over thanksgiving brake from my classis. Orion37170 11-03-2004, 04:08 PM I Like your detailling work, will watch this, but IMHO you should paint a 40th anniverary murcielago verde artemis ;) RallyRaider 11-03-2004, 04:23 PM True Andy, a 40th anniversary Murcie should be Verde Artemis, but I'm building a regular 2002ish car. I'm just starting with the 40th Anniversary kit but not using the extra bits. Orion37170 11-03-2004, 04:31 PM that's quite ok, phil :p perhaps i will have to go that way to, as i don't know where to get the colour :( RallyRaider 11-03-2004, 04:45 PM Yeah, the USA have got it made with Cobra Colors but they don't ship internationally due to US laws. Do you have a PPG paint shop close to you? If you do, go in and ask them, that is where I got my Verde Ithaca mixed. www.lambocars.com has a list of Lamborghini PPG paint codes, unfortunately Verde Artemis isn't on the list :( rx7king 11-03-2004, 11:36 PM i wanna see updates, i know how insane this will be Orion37170 11-03-2004, 11:37 PM no PPG shop around :( ales 11-04-2004, 12:31 AM Try glasurit, standox, dupont, etc. RallyRaider 11-04-2004, 01:55 AM no PPG shop around :( Just try any automotive paint store then. Odds are they should be able to access the appropriate codes and mix something up accordingly. Orion37170 11-04-2004, 10:17 AM i just went to the car stuff shops.... but the only thing i could get is duplicolour or noname things... will watch out for a cargarage wich does paintjob too and ask for mixing me the paint... RallyRaider 11-04-2004, 05:45 PM Andy. I'm not talking about the automotive shops that sell you all the little bits and pieces like sunshades and injector cleaner along with generic rattle cans. Rather the paint stores that supply the auto repair workshops. You won't find them in the mall or down the main street, so check the phone directory for what is in your area. They usually supply industrial quantities but may do smaller batches if you ask nicely. They should be set up so they can match the paint of any damaged car, so mixing a colour for us should be child's play. RallyRaider 11-04-2004, 10:07 PM Little bit of progress on the body, nothing too exciting, almost ready for primer now. I had a good long look at the nose and felt it needed to be lengthened and straightened somewhat. Here is the result, a slight improvement? http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3111a.JPG Also have deepened and crispened up the panel lines. The one on the nose from the lights to the front wheel arch is in slightly the wrong place. But I didn't notice until it was too late so it will have to stay there this time! For the windscreen I left the boarder that Fujimi put around but sanded it very thin so the glass will fit almost flush with the bodywork and hopefully look more true to life. I'll paint the surround gloss black so it appears to be part of the windscreen rather than a rubber insert or whatever. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3114a.JPG Also, as I mentioned in another thread I have found some heads for the engine! Will start attacking that after I get the bodywork prepped and primed. Samurai75007 11-04-2004, 10:29 PM nice, lookin for myn... RallyRaider 11-06-2004, 05:07 PM Here is the green basecoat applied, looks like Zinc Chromate. It's matt finish, as will be the next pearl coat, only the final clearcoat will gloss it up. Looks like we are going to have to discuss versions to build so we don't overlap :) Here is the pearl coat sprayed. Looks a bit different to how I envisioned it. Quite a range of colours from gold to green depending on the angle. Not a "flip-flop" colour put getting close. Was quite difficult to paint as the pearl layer is very translucent. Needed very even coverage to avoid any blotchiness forming. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3156a.JPG Samurai75007 11-07-2004, 07:10 PM why not talk about it? It's not a prototype, it's a real life race car. Or used to be until the team taht ran it was forced to abolish the project due to the lack of factory support and poor competitiveness. :( Too bad, was the most popular ALMS car this year among the fans, looked and sounded great, even though I personally believe they could have done a better job on the livery. Orion37170 11-08-2004, 12:59 PM that is what i meant with prototype car, a real car - not a model, sorry if that was the wrong word after all, school with english lessons is already some years ago ales 11-08-2004, 01:05 PM :) That's OK. The word "prototype" is usually used to describe a car at a development stage before it becomes a real production or race car. Orion37170 11-08-2004, 02:18 PM same way as in german, but i thought it would match here too.....i think i was told wrong ;) BRM 11-08-2004, 07:30 PM It takes a brave man to lay down some funky color like that! I've given it two coats of clear and will now wait a day or two before I sand and polish it up. Might need to give it another coat, will wait and see how it looks. After the clear the finish has lost some of it's chameleonic colour changing effects, which is probably a good thing in scale. Hopefully I'll have some progress to report on the engine, interior and brakes soon. CADguy 11-10-2004, 11:14 AM Sorry for the hi-jack Phil.. Orion37170 11-28-2004, 08:53 AM great work on the eingine, Samurai75007 11-28-2004, 09:34 AM WOW, all I can say is wow... RallyRaider 11-28-2004, 03:13 PM Thanks for the kind words people. :) Pedro, you are absolutely correct, the carbon fibre pattern is not only too bright but too large as well. However, if it was smaller and darker it would be harder to see. Since there are so many errors in this kit I don't feel at all compelled to be accurate. :) It is Museum Collection decal, really nice stuff to work with, the opposite of their regular decals! They make a smaller size pattern but I plumbed for the big one. In the past I've given the Museum Collection CF a coat of Smoke to darken it but left it as is this time. I'm thinking that much of the engine will be difficult to see through the hatch, so being lighter might make it more visible. :dunno: Yes the connectors are Sakatsu, really great little things. I've just recently got hold of some Plastruct hex rod myself, the oil and coolant (?) caps are made from it actually. There are also some Galtran nuts and bolts in there. RallyRaider 11-28-2004, 03:18 PM Insane! How long did it take you to CF all of that? It'd take me days. Didn't take too long to do the decaling SchuberT. The secret is to use masking tape to make templates, which you then transfer to decal. That way you can cut out exactly the right size and shape to fit the spot. Takes some practice (and like most things in our hobby is kind of fiddly) but is the only way to go for complicated shapes like this. lotus_man 11-28-2004, 03:53 PM Hey Phil, sneaking stuff in to the road section! Can't believe I missed this thread up to now, your model looks the dogs, first class as usual. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread from now on. rx7king 11-28-2004, 05:31 PM this place never ceases to blow minds daily  JTRACING 11-28-2004, 05:39 PM Amazing!!! RallyRaider 11-28-2004, 07:59 PM perhaps i will have to go that way to, as i don't know where to get the colour :( Hey, for anybody who is interested I've found the code for Verde Artemis, the 40th Aniversary colour - it is (ta da) 0083. Found it on the Standox site. Any automotive paint trade supply shop should be able to mix it up. I've already had some mixed because it's a good place to start for the pearl green/blue that Jaguar used on the XJ220 at Le Mans in 1993. :) The ground coat is a light turquoise, almost a perfect match for the March/Leyton House Formula One colour. chaos 11-28-2004, 08:11 PM The engine bay is far out!! bvia 11-28-2004, 11:48 PM Great job so far, Phil! I got my yellow Murc' in the EMS mail t'other day...now just waiting on the SP conversion kit and decals. I ended up finding 20+ megs of pics on the web for the GT-R...will be doing the Krohn*Barbour version myself! primera man 11-29-2004, 01:07 AM Now how the hell have i missed this thread :screwy: Darn fine looking work....your skills are really showing on this one Bas Carwash 11-29-2004, 09:59 AM That looks though! The engine looks so clean. Amazing work. Will be the first Murcie-model that will proudly present it's engine bay! nis.k.a. 11-29-2004, 11:04 AM Damn. That's an awesome engine bay. pettercardoso 11-29-2004, 01:49 PM Thank you for the explanation, Phil. Please don't tell me Museum Collection decals are not good : dissapoin . I've just ordered their Hi-tech set for the 1/12 641/2, since it comes with a PE fret, and the kit's original Marlboro decals are way too fluorescent... Back on topic....when are you going to show us more photos? :D Regards, Pedro. RallyRaider 11-29-2004, 03:28 PM Thanks everybody there isn't much left to do with this kit, mostly just the interior but it will be a couple of weeks at least until I get it completed. Would be nice to finish it before the end of the year but, probably not. Pedro, I wouldn't say that Museum Collection decals are no good. But they are different and a bit frustrating to work with, at least they were for me at first. If possible use some left over decals as practice first so you can get used to them. I also made the mistake of clear coating over them, which didn't work that well, as they are very thick. Bill, I plan to get hold of a Scale Productions transkit and do a R-GT as well. Being an Aussie I intend to build David Brabham's Krohn-Barbour machine too. godfather23 11-30-2004, 12:49 PM Awesome detail on a curbside kit, you gotta love that attention to detail! Great Work, Phil! Veyron 11-30-2004, 01:16 PM Thank you for the explanation, Phil. Please don't tell me Museum Collection decals are not good : dissapoin . Back on topic....when are you going to show us more photos? :D Regards, Pedro. I found the Museum Collection decals to be brittle, even a simple Ferrari badge broke apart as I was applying it. I recommend coating them with Microscale Decal Film before using. willster127 11-30-2004, 06:39 PM Very, Very nice, I hang around in the motorsport section too much just lately and miss great builds like this. Can't wait to see it finished. freakmech 11-30-2004, 07:29 PM great work! i cant believe the CF decal work. im having lots of decal issues with my Silvia Impul. Your work has been my standard (unmet) since our first arguement about Rally mud hehehe. Still envious! hrmodeler 12-01-2004, 01:39 AM Looks really great Phil! RallyRaider 12-03-2004, 08:40 PM Another small update. Mocked up headlights, I used Sakatsu lenses for the larger projector, can't really see the slight reshape in this pic. Also painted the gloss black window surrounds, still need to fill in the part over the top of the door with black decal. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3696a.JPG Here are the wheels, and brake discs/calipers. I originaly used a darker shade in the rims but they didn't look right so I ended up redoing them a rather bright chrome, will see how it turns out on the finshed car. Also can be seen the exhaust, with a metal rod joining the two lower pipes together. I'm hoping it will give a more positive and stronger location to the very vague fit stright from the kit. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3693a.JPG PlumbedandWired 12-03-2004, 08:56 PM Oh my god that looks good. The wheels looks superb. Keep those updates coming. MidMazar 12-03-2004, 09:29 PM that front end looks so aggressive!!! mel79 12-04-2004, 01:17 AM Looks absolutely gorgeous! Those panel lines look so sharp it's hard to believe it's the same Fujimi kit I have. Did you enhance them with darker color or did you just scribe them deep enough to look so good? I'm wondering how to make the panel lines look good enough on a pearl yellow Murci. The lines seem so wide that I think they wont look to good as they are even though I've scribed them deeper than they were. -Mikko Hiroboy 12-04-2004, 02:04 AM Absolutely Stunning work on this, can't wait for the next installment :) The painting is perfect. robrex 12-04-2004, 03:15 AM Crikey! Phil, I never expected to see you in the Street and Show section! This build is absolutely amazing!! I hope it's not to long before I can see the colour in real life? When are you back up here??? Jay! 12-04-2004, 03:43 AM Great googley moogley!!! A+++!!! You'll soon have Fujimi sending you requests for your secrets!! RallyRaider 12-04-2004, 06:33 AM Thanks guys. :) Mikko, I scribed the panel lines and then sanded the surface to make them crisper. Got a bit carried away and made some of them a bit too wide I think, especially the front of the doors. Rob, I probably won't be back in Brisbane until 2006 at the earliest  CADguy 12-04-2004, 07:02 AM Fantastic! The pin at the exhaust tips is a great idea. I used a black Sharpie permanent marker to 'paint' the sections of trim at the top of the door windows. Came out great. Wheelin75r 12-04-2004, 09:40 AM That paintjob is awesome!! Bas Carwash 12-04-2004, 11:25 AM Look at that color! Amazing! I love it! Murray Kish 12-04-2004, 03:14 PM jeez louise, awesome Murray hondaaccordboy21 12-04-2004, 04:31 PM omg this is sweet. Very nice job. That green color kills! GvEman 12-04-2004, 05:00 PM Looks very good! love the engine and the rims! Porsche Carrera 12-04-2004, 07:59 PM That's sooo purty! That's my favorite color for the Murci! :smokin: RallyRaider 12-11-2004, 08:48 PM Had a change of heart and ordered some Aoshima 19" Kranze LXZ wheels. Figured a wild colour deserved some wild wheels! :D I narrowed the lip at the front and deepened it at the rear, they really fill the guards up now. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3763a.JPG DukeMan 12-11-2004, 08:58 PM Wow! That looks really nice, I think the rims suits the car pretty damn good. freakmech 12-11-2004, 09:06 PM love it so far RallyRaider 12-11-2004, 09:28 PM There is a reason why this is a progress thread Freakmech! There are already chassis bottom and engine pics a few pages back. Not much to see interior-wise, other than the basic colour scheme. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3767a.JPG freakmech 12-11-2004, 09:30 PM sorry notice the ummmm edit *cough* RallyRaider 12-11-2004, 09:36 PM Sneaky! No problem, I went and took a quick snap of the interior just for you. :) freakmech 12-11-2004, 09:56 PM ahhh... nice ... this is my vote for model of the year.. that is the wickedest color ever. on a great medium. the Lambo. had to see a peek of interior... :lol2: ive got a skyline 2000 ready for AFMOTY... will this be done by then? BRM 12-11-2004, 11:12 PM Excellent work! The engine looks fantastic. I'm having a hard time getting my foil to stick and look even (where you have the gold bands). Whats your trick? robrex 12-12-2004, 02:25 AM :thumbsup:Those wheels suit the car SO well!!! Hiroboy 12-12-2004, 02:42 AM I love and hate coming to this thread. Love it because your work it 2nd to none. Hate it because, it's made me order a Murcielago now. This really is an awesome build, we need to see more street cars from you Phil. BTW the wheels are perfect  RallyRaider 12-12-2004, 06:45 PM Thanks for the comments guys, you are too kind. :) Chad - no I don't think this model will be finished for the comp, so I've entered another one. Good luck with your Skyline! BRM - The gold bands are tape, I use super glue to keep them down, otherwise they peel off in no time. In reality they should be black rubber with silver clips more inboard. Rob - The wheels weren't quite what I was expecting when I ordered them, thought they'd be more swoopy and rounded where the spokes join the rim. But the extra diameter is so much cooler. Also think I may have made the difference in lip to great front to rear. Oh well, this streetcar thing is a learning process for me. Steve - Will look forward to seeing your Murcie. If you’re like me you'll hate the Fujimi kit's deficiencies but love the Lamborghini colours! RallyRaider 12-18-2004, 12:57 AM Finished the interior bucket. Added some seatbelts and other PE from the Deluxe kit. These photos have a blue tinge, not sure why, the real colours are more neutral grey. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3800a.JPG http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3806a.JPG proosen 12-18-2004, 02:20 AM This is a great build you're pulling of here! That interior is a real looker, if I understod this right...the PE is in the kit!? Fujimi or not, I have to get me one of thoose. With this work from you that gives Fujimi free advertising you should send them a bill or get a procentage from every sold Murcie! BTW, thoose rims rocks. Glad you got them for the mean green machine! Love to see it finished! Niclas RallyRaider 12-18-2004, 10:08 PM Hi Niclas. The PE for the brake, clutch, footrest, gearchange gate are all from the Deluxe Fujimi kit. Seatbelt catches are just generic and the accelerator pedal is from the Acustion set. The Deluxe set also has mirror faces, wheel centres, V12 6.3L and Lamborghini scrips. As well as a windscreen wiper which I won't use. Here is another pic I took this afternoon that shows the interior colour better. http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3814a.JPG willimo 12-18-2004, 10:19 PM Holy cow, the whole thing looks just incredible! That engine looks amazing - like it's full detail or somethin! Freakin' fantastic! I am impressed enough to consider getting one of these - all the Murcies showing up are very inspiring, and this one is at the top of the heap! freakray 12-18-2004, 10:30 PM Dayum Phil, that engine looks like it could be fired up! ImolaEK 12-18-2004, 10:46 PM Wow! Thats soooo neat! MidMazar 12-19-2004, 12:27 AM thats a crazy build phil!! Trial_Style 12-19-2004, 12:33 AM Ur engine is so sick!!! it looks like my 1/18 scale Autoart Murcie RallyRaider 12-19-2004, 05:42 AM Went to glue on the front turn indicators tonight and found I'd painted them both for the lefthand side. Looks like the Gods don't want me to fit them! So who am I to argue, don't know if I should use the decals or just leave it illegal. ales 12-19-2004, 06:01 AM I think it looks good without those pesky things disturbing the lines and panel contours :) Wheelin75r 12-19-2004, 07:40 AM Speechless.... 360spider 12-19-2004, 09:41 AM Stunning build so far! Incredible detail! bvia 12-19-2004, 12:17 PM Great job as always!!! Your interior is a stunner! Bill TireGaint 12-19-2004, 02:42 PM Gallardo is your next job. :D Captain Mark 12-19-2004, 02:46 PM RR - When you say the seatbelt catches are just generic, do you mean that they come from an upgrade kit that can be used on any 1/24 model? If so, do you have a link to where I can find this upgrade kit? Cheers. RallyRaider 12-19-2004, 02:56 PM Mark, the part I called generic is the silver part attatched to the belt, they are out of a racing harness set. Perfect Parts I think this one was, because they are quite wide. sportracer02 12-19-2004, 03:47 PM Hi, as I am new at the forum it is the first time I saw your efforts. Great !! Nothing else to say. Micha Tamar 12-19-2004, 05:14 PM Hello RR Found your post as I was surfing the web looking for pics of buildt Murcielago's. The Scaleproduction transkit will be available form mid Februari. The kit will contain wheels frontsplitter and rearspoiler, possibly the rear diffuser as well and a race interior. Michael also mentions some PE parts, Decalsheet will allow you to buildt one of 3 versions (inlcuding the one with Brabs) I already saw the decals (as I am doing the instruction drawings for them) and they are pretty good. I'm about to start building the 2003 test version, dont expext to much interior detailing from me....for my purposes those are way to heavy as the car's gotta race. But I will cover the whole body with Studio27 carbon decal. Will be looking forward to post of your R-GT version, although that will probably be in your native Motorsport section  RallyRaider 12-19-2004, 06:18 PM Thanks for the rundown Tamar, will be getting one of those kits for sure. I've just put the body on the Murcielago and the Fujimi kit has saved it's worst until last! I repeatedly checked and adjusted the wheel and ride height whilst building but it looks like none of that counted for anything :( The wheels are all over the place! Not only that but the front end doesn't want to locate positively either, I had to superglue it down so there weren’t big gaps around the windshield. Some major jerryrigging is going to be needed. Just when I thought I was practically finished. :p http://www.rallyraider.nwwo.com/build/murcielago/Dscf3821a.JPG Captain Mark 12-19-2004, 06:30 PM RR you know it's actually hard to tell you've been having difficulty going by the pic. Do you think you can overcome these problems? Also I was talking about the red/black catches at the base of the seat, not the clips on the belt itself (regarding aftermarket sets). Did you scratchbuild these red/black catches? They look really good! Tamar 12-19-2004, 06:38 PM Hello Phil Well, that won't be a problem for me, as a slotracer I won't use the chassis nor the wheels :screwy: But then again I've got my own problems....... Besides scratchbuilding the splitter and spoiler (the car has to race on 30 jan) I've also got to find a way to reinforce those tiny A pillars so the car will survive a possible crash (at aproxx 16 mph) :icon16: RallyRaider 12-20-2004, 01:14 AM The locking part of the seatbelts is stolen form an Enthusiast Countach kit, as is the loop at the top. Would be quite easy to scratchbuild, just a piece of styrene card on a pin. The red press release is a small rectange of red insulation tape cut out and glued. Kind sorted the suspension, not perfect but it will do. The completed thread is here. Will be looking forward to post of your R-GT version, although that will probably be in your native Motorsport section  agamo 02-02-2005, 03:53 PM First here is the back end where the rear wheels have been moved back and lowered. I kinda knew about this problem from Veyron and Kunta’s build diaries. But I didn’t realise how narrow the front track was as well. Pretty easy to fix, but took 2.5mm of plastic card on either side to bring the front wheels out wide enough. http://rallycars.topcities.com/build/2001-murcielago/Dscf3076a.JPG Good job, now, when you moved the rear axle backwards, what did you do with the suspensión arms? specially lower suspension arms, wich are molded to the under structure. Thanks Regards agamo 02-02-2005, 04:06 PM Update on the engine area. Lots of cutting and hacking, carbon fibre decalling, PE scripts and silver tape, even easter egg foil. http://rallycars.topcities.com/build/2001-murcielago/Dscf3277a.JPG Questions: Are those engine heads scratchbuilt? or did you take them from another kit?, in such case, which kit? Where do the little white Lamborghini scripts on the engine heads come from? Great work, you really brought this kit to the high level. RallyRaider 02-04-2005, 02:32 AM When I moved the rear wheels I cut across where the white plastic line is, then forward, horizontaly at the height of the axle. You can just see the line in the sanded back area. I was then able to slide the whole part backwards including the upper wishbones. The engine heads were extra parts out of an Enthusiast Countach kit, intended for the Quatrovalve version of the Lamborghini V12. They were extras in a 5000S kit, don't know if they are all like that or if I just got lucky. Lamborghini scripts are from the Fujimi kit, intended for the brake calipers. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
