--- '37 Ford Coupe ---cwmax 10-31-2004, 08:04 PM Started my new project on Friday. A Revell '37 ford Coupe. So Far I have the body lowered on the fenders and the top chopped. Still needs filling and cleaning. The fenders are untouched and still need allot of work removing flashing etc. The wheels are Pegasus chrome "T"s, 19" front and 23" rear. I will have to chop the grill and stretch the hood. I may build a new grill, the one I got in the kit is a lil buggered up. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-frntangl-01.jpg The rear window was reshaped a lil, I had to raise the lower part of the window frame. The contour of the rear deck will meet the top where the old lower window line was. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-bckangl-01.jpg Here you can see the before and after. The window split bars and were removed. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-frbf-01.jpg Here's an overlay of the side. When I dropped the body I also moved it rearward and gave it a slight bit more rake to the front. When I chopped the top I moved the top forward, also with more rake. I think it gives it a bit more aggressive look. Still need to fill the body to rear deck and all the cuts. The B pillars were also removed. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-sidebf-01.jpg More to come ... :smokin: . white97ex 10-31-2004, 09:22 PM lookin good. nice choice of wheels GvEman 11-01-2004, 01:30 AM looks very good! The front fenders were tweeked a lil to the right and the front left fender was up slightly. I clamped it down on a straight board and worked it about 10 minutes with a blow dryer. Came out really close even thought the left fender is actually wider than the right. I had to split the diff from what measures right and what looks right. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-chssrig-01.jpg Got most the heavy filling and sand ing done to the body, top has been puttied up and smoothed out and ready for another primer coat to weed out the minor stuff. Got the hood sides made up and will be molding the sides to the top of the hood to make a 1 piece hood so there is still some filling to do there. The grill will be scratch built. The one that came in the kit was buggered up, besides it no longer fits. I was just going to cut it down and stretch the hood to meet it, but it just doesn't line up right in any way. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-frntangl-03.jpg Thanks for looking Till next ... . white97ex 11-12-2004, 01:29 AM lookin good. can't wait to see this thing in some paint GTmike400 11-12-2004, 07:44 AM Man...I love yours. Mine looks like a pile of manure. I think I may have modified mine to much. Please, please, post up on how you build your grill, thats where Im stuck. I want my '37 to be sleek, but the grill just doesnt cut it. Looks really good, Im in love with it. ol' dude 11-12-2004, 07:49 AM That looks awesome the way it sits!! So I assembled the chassis. It is pretty much as it comes in the kit with the exception of light mods to lower the suspension. Removed some chassis in the rear and mounted the center chunk on top the cross member. Also added some blocks under the front cross member. I also scratch built the front coil overs. I didn't intend to from the start, but after breaking one of the plastic coil overs off the cross member I decided to give it a shot. Pretty happy with the results. The brakes are Pegasus. I also assembled part of the engine. It still needs wires and hoses etc. I will also scratch build the exhaust , I don’t like the stock ones. I decided on the colors for the car, two-tone. The light color is Dupli-Color Champagne and the dark is Dupli-Color Black Cherry. I need to work on my painting skills a lil. The colors were sprayed over black primer, I should have used gray primer, I expected the Champagne to be lighter. Thanks for looking ... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-chassis-01.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-chassis-02.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-chassis-03.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-chassis-04.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-chassis-05.jpg Till Next ... :smokin: . WeaPoN [X] 11-22-2004, 02:52 AM Great combination. Very classic and sleek looking. The chassis alone looks menacing. This is going to be a show stopper. JeFF Wheelin75r 11-22-2004, 03:38 AM :iagree: GTmike400 11-22-2004, 07:33 AM Very Sweet. Hows that grill coming along? If I can get an idea of how to build mine I might actually finish my '37. GvEman 11-22-2004, 12:06 PM coolnes! looks sweet dude! GT-Alex 11-22-2004, 12:14 PM The chassis looks fine ! ONEBADMK8 11-22-2004, 01:04 PM Looking Great! cwmax 11-22-2004, 01:50 PM Very Sweet. Hows that grill coming along? If I can get an idea of how to build mine I might actually finish my '37. I havn't got to that point yet. I do know how I will do it. I want to get all the heavy sanding done before I build the grill as it will be part of the body and delicate. Since I decided to make the hood one piece (top and sides ) it would be impossable to lift the hood off pass the grill. So I will build the grill onto the body then have the top 1/2 attatched to the hood and bottom to the fenders. I'll definetly show the progress on it. Thanks all for the comments, here's a pic of the coilover http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19897237cp-coilovr-02.jpg I used styrene rod, some craft wire from wallyworld for the spring and the shaft is a loop antena from an old wireless security door transmiter :icon16:. . GTmike400 11-22-2004, 04:21 PM That is one kick ass coilover. blubaja 11-22-2004, 05:26 PM Hey, Dam! That chassis looks and suspension looks really nice so far. Do you think the pe grille set might help any? Keep up the awsome work. Frank X. cwmax 11-22-2004, 06:07 PM Hey, Dam! That chassis looks and suspension looks really nice so far. Do you think the pe grille set might help any? Keep up the awsome work. Frank X. I didn't know there was a PE set for it. I did a search a while back but couldn't find one. I also figured the amount of modifying I would have to do to the PE set to make it fit the car, I may as well save the $ and build one from styrene rod. It may work for Mike if the original grill profile is the same. Mine, the vertical profile is quite different. Thanks for the thought . Mines more sleek, and slicked back so the stock grill just looks ugly. willimo 11-22-2004, 09:46 PM Looks great! Great work on every aspect. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this. nis.k.a. 11-22-2004, 09:59 PM This build is coming along very nicely. I can't wait to see the two-tone. I also love all the mods you have done thus far. Top notch work. blubaja 11-22-2004, 10:56 PM Hey, Here is the pe set link for anyone that might think they can use it. http://www.modelcargarage.com/mcg_display_item.cfm?m=2207 Hope it helps anybit at all.
