I am looking to purchase a Honda Civic. I am jsut wondering if anyne can tell me the differednces between like the ex, dx, si, etc....

What I am looking for is sonmething that has some good performance has some upgradeability if I decide to mod, and something that is not a hatchback. So if someone does have a suggestiong for year and make than that would be helpful too...thanks

Thanks alot.

I'd recommend checking out www.Edmunds.com (http://www.Edmunds.com). It will tell you what standard features comes with each different trim (including horsepower) and what each different generation of Civic looks like. There are a few generations; '92-'95, '96-'98,(<these 2 are are basically the same just some exterior cosmetic differences>) '99-'00, '01+. The higher end models are the EX and the Si trims, they have the fastest engines and the most features available.

Consumerguide.com is another good one too. Don't go to MSN.com/autos cause they give out really bad stats on the car. They are never correct.

And just to help u. The Si is the best of them all with the ex behind it. Both have VTEC but the ex is SOHC while the Si is DOHC.

If you want more HP and more Torque for less than an over priced Civic, then go for the Sentra SE-R Spec V. Remember, there is no replacement for displacement. Don't just look at the HP numbers, look at the torque numbers. Torque wins races.

Had an EX. Was a great car, but the Si is obviously the better choice for performance. But as Chris said, Honda low-end torque is terrible. You can't have everything, I guess...
