GS-T v. RSX type-SScoped_GST 10-30-2004, 05:52 PM So driving down road towards my house, and not too many ppl on it. Line up with an RSX Type-S. I've never really raced one, or dragged one for that matter, but people always had me under the impression that it was quite a bit faster than my car. So basically we take off the line, and both get a good launch, he pulls ahead in first gear, but by third im about half a car length and gaining on him, and by the start of fourth I'm 1 length ahead of him. It couldnt have been auto, so it must have been a crappy driver eh? Either way his car looked faster than mine  . (btw, I have a 98 GS-T w/ the T-25 set at 15psi & intake) 90redgt 10-30-2004, 09:41 PM hmm i dunno much about imports but good race or kill. just curious but ever had ur car dynoed? 15psi is lots of boost. crunchymilk55 10-30-2004, 10:13 PM woot! another reason for me to push 15 psi... Partizan 10-31-2004, 12:05 AM I hopped infront of one right away but I've got a GSX, but my clutch was acting up so I let him get closer, we ended with me about 3 cars ahead at about 140kmh. HighRev87 10-31-2004, 12:27 AM Actually, if you had a good launch, you should have taken him. A GS-T is AWD turbo correct? Then it should have easily hoped in front of a FWD car. alphalanos 10-31-2004, 12:29 AM no GST is FWD. good race...i like the eclipse more anyway HighRev87 10-31-2004, 12:32 AM no GST is FWD. Oh my bad, Yeah i think I remember only the GSX being AWD. If it was AWD, it would have given him a significant launch advantage. Scoped_GST 10-31-2004, 02:19 AM ehhh, a full car length is a decent amount on an RSX type-S. Plus, I dont know what he had done to it. He pulled up to me when i was doin the speed limit, and then floored it past me with a confused look...asian guy. btw, I was thinking about getting an RSX Type-S rather than a DSM before, but went with the DSM, so in a way it backs up my decision. TatII 10-31-2004, 02:50 AM your running 15 psi and you could hardly take out a RSX type S? anyways your car is a high 14 second car stock. a rsx type S is the same as you are with the same skill level. however your running more boost. so that should be no problem for you. and type S's only comes in 6 speed. =OrangeZ= 10-31-2004, 02:57 AM with 15psi one your gts this shouldnt have even been much of a race .... heck 13psi brings you into the low 14's with them cars i know because my friend has one and with 15psi you would be close to a 14 flat so a 14.0 campaired to a 14.9 hmm big difference there thats alot more then one car something doesnt really add up , ether that or your the one whos the crappy driver no offence Boosted1 10-31-2004, 07:48 AM Stock, the GS-T runs closer to 15 flat. I have seen a mid 14 second pass for a Type-S. Definitely with 15psi, the GS-T would have the advantage but the Type-S could have been modded. What is the stock boost on a GS-T? 90redgt 10-31-2004, 10:34 AM with 15psi one your gts this shouldnt have even been much of a race .... heck 13psi brings you into the low 14's with them cars i know because my friend has one and with 15psi you would be close to a 14 flat so a 14.0 campaired to a 14.9 hmm big difference there thats alot more then one car something doesnt really add up , ether that or your the one whos the crappy driver no offence could be the driver (not a flame scopedgst), maybe he just needs more practice who knows. Just remember anything can happen on the street. sometimes a 14sec. car can beat a 12second car. :smokin: clawhammer 10-31-2004, 01:40 PM I think that the RSX is overrated. Everyone thinks it's such a good car, but in reality, it's not that good at acceleration, I don't know about handling though. turbo2nr 10-31-2004, 02:30 PM nice race , i also taked out a rsx with the probe on 12.5psi, i had him off the line and we were even throught first, by 3rd i was a car and a 1/2 away, nice kill tho, get a 3' turbo back and you'll feel more power.. 1 97Tsi 10-31-2004, 05:06 PM I've always heard that those Type-S' pull pretty hard in 3rd gear. I've never raced an RSX myself, but from what I hear that race doesn't sound too far fetched. btw, 15psi is awfully high to be running for daily driving. I would turn it down a little for the sake of your motor. :2cents: MR2Driver 10-31-2004, 07:28 PM Turbo RSX-S's arent to be taken lightly though. Also 15psi for a stock turbo car isnt all THAT much. Im running 15psi all day on my MR2 turbo, all I have is an intake. Scoped_GST 10-31-2004, 07:52 PM oooh no I dont run it on 15 always. It was friday and I was coming back from some guys house, and I had turned up the boost a little cause he wanted to feel what 15psi on a T-25 was (he owns a WRX). Daily driving I'll put it down to 12, sometimes 10 if I'm goin on a long trip or something. Sounded like the guy had a catback and intake and such. And no, I'm not a BAD driver, I just got my car a month ago anyways. I'm lining up with a good friends new RSX Type-S(stock) today or tomorrow, so I'll update you guys on how that goes... 90redgt 10-31-2004, 09:33 PM cool make sure it's from a dig....after all that's all that really matters anyway. =OrangeZ= 10-31-2004, 11:42 PM the stock psi on a gts is 8 or 9 i think and to pump it up to 15psi on a stock car is asking for serious trouble in the long run, also you wouldnt wanna turbo a rsx type S in stock forum because the compression is like 11:1 and wouldnt be able hold a decent amount of dependable boost out of a turbo set up that way but if someone takes the time to do it right i would imagine it would be something to watch out for, where i live stock gts run around a 15 flat though my friend uped his to 13psi and got a 14.2 compaired to his 14.9 in stock forum, all of the rsx type s 's around here seem to run high 14's i have seen one dip to 14.4 with full header back exhaust setup and CAI though i dunno just supplying info Scoped_GST 11-01-2004, 05:19 AM hmmm, well, i was getting 11-12psi stock on my GS-T(not gts, thats celica). Most ppl seem to get anywhere around 10-12psi on stock settings, not even close to 8-9. Turning it up to 15 wont do anything to the engine, its a little T-25 in there, so if anything the turbo will go out on you. I'm planning on putting in a 14B within the next 6-8 months or so, but first, supporting mods. T-25's can handle anything up to 16psi, but anywhere past 15 is pushing it in my opinion. Boosted1 11-01-2004, 07:42 AM I wonder how that compares with other turbo cars. The VR4 is supposed to take 14.5psi stock, not hurting the engine. I think his could take 15 rather easily without hurting anything. PWRDbyUNCLEbens 11-02-2004, 04:09 PM btw, 15psi is awfully high to be running for daily driving. I would turn it down a little for the sake of your motor. :2cents: It's not that much boost if you live in the city of Bullshit on the corner of Trolling ave. , and Fast and the Furious blvd. 2of9 11-02-2004, 05:19 PM 15 psi aint that high for a DSM, if you have the correct mods for it, thats a daily driven car. oh yea, my cuzin has a 215hp (at the wheel) RSX, and they pull really quick after 3rd gear...i think one time we were alreay going 60 mph around 2nd gear, so the RSX Type-S are very fast on the long run unless that RSX gots turbo, than its gonna fly... civicHBsi91 11-03-2004, 03:12 AM you people....uhh... Ok they are high 14 second cars stock with good drivers. I/H/E and hondata they have been known to mid-high 13's with good drivers. yes vtec cars have very good pull in 3rd gear. TypeS 11-03-2004, 08:58 AM you people....uhh... Ok they are high 14 second cars stock with good drivers. I/H/E and hondata they have been known to mid-high 13's with good drivers. yes vtec cars have very good pull in 3rd gear. I know how you feel. I said the exact same thing a month or two ago when someone was talking about a race. Some people just don't understand. 3kgt8 11-03-2004, 01:20 PM for some reason i feel like people make the rsx-s seem like a very fast car. civicHBsi91 11-03-2004, 01:59 PM for some reason i feel like people make the rsx-s seem like a very fast car. because it can be. TypeS 11-03-2004, 02:09 PM because it can be. Pretty easily Scoped_GST 11-03-2004, 04:24 PM Oh, and PWRDbyUNCLEbens  , 15psi on a DSM will not do anything to the motor, the turbo is the only one that might be affected, and on a T-25 15 near the higher range of what it can put out, but not near the limits of what it can do. And as I said before, I dont drive daily on 15, usually 12 or so daily. Also Considering within the next 6-8 months I'm gonna drop in a new one in. Agreed tho, I have seen turboed Type-S's, and they are amazing things to behold (saw one that beat an Evo in person), but have to have a decent amount of money put into them... On a different note, I just did race my buddies white RSX Type-S today, but I hardly can even call that a win, but I suppose it was me by like 1/2 a car length, given that I had a rough launch. Anyhow, I still love Type-S's cause they are dead sexy, and the drive and quality is just awsome from Acura. Love the vtech.... :grinno: peace... 3kgt8 11-03-2004, 04:52 PM sure almost any car can be made fast. TatII 11-03-2004, 05:56 PM the K20A found in the type S is actually quit a good engine. i mean its definitly a quick car from the factory with pretty good top end. however i still don't believe they can run high 13's n/a of course there are plenty of people who claim that. so i'm standing in the middle of the fence. i'm on neither side. TypeS 11-03-2004, 05:58 PM I/H/E + Hondata tuning = 13s PWRDbyUNCLEbens 11-03-2004, 06:26 PM Do you even have an aftermarket exhaust, and I'm guessing a boost controller? Intake and T-25 set-up is about as vague as it gets. Your post implies your running 15psi with the stock exhaust. I would have expected you to beat the kid by more then one car length with 15psi though. Scoped_GST 11-03-2004, 06:39 PM oh the kid i was racing I had it set on 13, which is daily driving. I really only go to 15 occasionally, or when I am set up to line up with someone that can beat me. Otherwise I keep it near 12... Yea, MBC and stock exhaust, nothing special, but I'm a poor student...so things come slowly. CrzyMR2T 11-03-2004, 11:07 PM didnt some magazine do a test on an rsx-s? like they kept it n/a, with cams, i/h/e, and stuff, and got it to do 14 flat i believe, maybe high 13s i forgot. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
