93 Ford Explorer XLT - POS Alarmsammigrrl 10-30-2004, 04:03 PM Can someone please help me? I called my local Ford dealership and they were absolutely /no/ help whatsoever. I have what I believe to be an after-market Ford alarm system on my 93 Explorer XLT. A few months ago, my remote stopped working. I replaced the battery, but it had no effect. By some miracle, it worked one last night, so I was able to hit the little button to the left of the steering wheel and 'disarm' it. This all worked fine and dandy until my battery died. I just tried to jump it today and the alarm kept going on and I could not start it because the alarm doesn't let you start the car unless it's disarmed. The guy at the dealership and a guy at a local car alarm place said that if it was factory, all I had to do was put the key in the door and turn it to the unlock position. Nope, not so much. I just moved and don't know where the (broken) remote is, I have to move my truck, and I don't know what to do. Can I remove the alarm? I called the local dealership and they said their guy knows how to install alarms, but not uninstall 'em. And I don't know what to even tell the parts place - I'm looking at about 200 bucks to get another remote and have them reprogram it, if it's even the right remote. OR, can I take it to Circuit City or somewhere like that, where they can remove the alarm and install a new one? I just have no idea what to do! Please can someone help a damsel in distress? :) Thank you! Oh yeah, POS = Piece of S.... Samantha sammigrrl 10-30-2004, 08:02 PM Well, nevermind this post - after searching through allllllllll the Explorer posts, I found a few ideas and managed to find another button to bypass the alarm, I jumped it, and boom - voila, it's mo bedda. Thanks to all who have gone before me. :) Explorer94 01-13-2005, 10:52 PM What was the solution for that? Everytime my battery dies that always happends to me too. There was this little thing hanging down underneath the dash that had a button on it, and I pushed in the button. I don't know what it looks like - I just felt around. :) Hope that helps.
