I have a 91 honda accord and have experiencing starting problems the last few weeks. If I try to start the car in the morning, when the temperature is below say 60 degrees, it won't start. It's turning over and if I pump the pedal a few times, I can smell the gas fumes. What's weird is later in the day, when the temperature gets warmer, the car starts no problem. It's been this way for a few weeks...cold in the morning - won't start. In the afternoon - no problem.

I have seen the problems posted regarding the main relay switch. When I turn the key ignition to the second position, I can hear the relay click.

Could the problem still be related to the relay? Any other possible suggestions in regards to what the problem may be?

Thanks in advance...

When was the last time you changed the spark plugs. You should not smell gas if the car is fuel injection. .

May just be that your battery doesn't have enough CCA(cold cranking amps)

its not good to pump the gas pedal on a electronic fuel injected car. you end up soaking the spark plugs w/ gas....that may be a reason why it won't start. remove all your spark plugs and dry them off and if you can blow some air into the spark plug chamber to dry off any excess fuel.

check ur battery, and ur spark plugs, and there right, ur not supposed to pump the gas pedal if it's programmed or electronically fueled, and then even when it starts u'll feel the car hesitate before it burns out all the gas that flooded the cylinders.
