I have a 97 dodge 1500 with a 318 and was wondering if a 360 would fit or would it be too much work to switch to the 360? and if it would fit prolly have to switch the tranny to right?

Is five horsepower really worth the trouble?

Of course a 360 would fit. They put 360's in these trucks.

Well, i'm not sure of the horsepower gains, but i'm pretty sure you'd get more torque out of the 360. The swap should be pretty straight forward. Everything should bolt right up, including all the electrics.

It doesn't make any sense to do this unless you say, put an older 360 that you built to pull or race into there. I don't believe you would gain anything once the swap is done. You'd put time in and spend money and there wouldn't be difference enough to be able to justify it.

My opinion? Too much work. Forget about it.

You could put in one of dodge's 360 ci, 350 hp crate motors. That would be worth it. With an intake and aftermarket exhaust, your 318 could perform just as good as a stock 360, and the cost would be minimal.

Yea, I don't think there would really be any point swapping out a stock for a stock. But if you've got a 360 that you've beefed up, then hell yea! Go for it.
