Radiator Problems On 1991 Accord?liftedoff420 10-26-2004, 07:38 PM recently i had a leak in the radiator hose near the spark plugs...i didnt kno it, and the car overheated and stalled on me i had the hose replaced and the antifreeze refilled however, while driving the car sometimes leaks antifreeze on the drivers side, i had some mechanics look at it and they saw no leaks, they said it was extra fluid that was stuck in the manifold or someshit...the car only leaks when i stop i drove like 600 miles, and it was leaking about a cup or two of antifreeze every 100 or so miles....so i periodically would open up the antifreeze hose and top it off....and it kept leaking recently it stopped leaking but the antifreeze isnt filled up is it leaking because there is extra antifreeze in the system? when you open that little latch under neath the front of the hood is it supposed to be topped off with fluid?? what the hell is going on?? henrymv 10-27-2004, 12:33 PM You MAY and I say MAY, so have the mechanic look for this, have a hairline crack in the head or block from when you over heated the car. phantastic1 10-27-2004, 01:17 PM pressure test the radiator system. honda radiators are notorious for hairline cracks on the top plastic tank. if it is a blown head gasket....a possible sign to watch for is white smoke. another method of verifying the head gasket is compression testing it. Igovert500 10-27-2004, 02:55 PM Also if it's a blown head gasket, you'll get bubbles in your oil, you can check with dipstick. Callook 10-27-2004, 04:51 PM Also if it's a blown head gasket, you'll get bubbles in your oil, you can check with dipstick. If you have a blown head gasket would you also have oil in your radiator and overflow tank? henrymv 10-27-2004, 11:39 PM It would not be a blown head gasket or you would have white smoke coming out hte exhaust. However there could be a hairline crack in the block or head. Need to have the mechanice put a scope to the engine.... superdesi 01-04-2005, 09:31 PM pressure test the radiator system. honda radiators are notorious for hairline cracks on the top plastic tank. if it is a blown head gasket....a possible sign to watch for is white smoke. another method of verifying the head gasket is compression testing it. Can you recommend a place to buy good quality aftermarket radiators. I have a 92 LX and I have leaks on the top fins when I pressure tested it. I just want a radiator I can drop it without making modifications. AccordCodger 01-05-2005, 08:15 AM superdesi, please don't "wake up" multiple threads, when you could easily (and more appropriately) start a new one with subject "Anyone know a good aftermarket source for radiators?" superdesi 01-05-2005, 10:33 AM Sorry. I should have known better. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
