hello, i today built my first body kit on a 66 beetle, it started using plastic card and masking tape, with Milliput over the top to make the shape. i found it extrememly hard to minipulate the shapes of both side skirts to be the same, and as i type this the skirt seems to be coming further and further away from the plastic it is joining with. do any of you have any tips on how to make a perfect custom kit. i read the how to guide but understand pics better.....can anyone help

Ok, everyone ready to cuss me out for saying this?

Please, search. There are plenty of threads about this. Just to prove it, I typed "body kit" in the search box right above the thread list. It returned 100 threads. Here are the highlights.

do i really need plastic styrene? (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=295876&highlight=body+kit)
This thread talks alot about making body kits. Further, it has imbedded llinks that take you to other good threads like Ratdat's Wide body 300ZX turbo (late Z31) (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=166816) (please do not reply to that thread).

Here is a thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=262169&highlight=body+kit) that g00ey started asking for the same answers.

Then I searched "bodykit," one word this time.

ground effects? (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=50161&highlight=bodykit) is the same question, again, but this thread has a great little sketch by our resident body kit manufacturer explaining how to do it. Fantastic!

Look, another thread here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=67381&highlight=bodykit) by GTRRR. Neat!

Feel free to search more, I didn't look at much more than the first page on each of those two searches. Try "Body kit, bodykit, body kits, bodykits, ground effects, custom bumper," and so on. I'm sure you'll find more information than you could possibly read.

Welcome to AF, the forum is a great tool. You can learn alot by reading what people say and what people have said in the past. I can't wait to see what you can do!

Welcome to AF! :wave:It returned 100 threads. Here are the highlights. And just FYI, all searches are limited to the first 100 matches. So don't forget to try different combinations of words, Like Will said, to look for more results.

If you use the Advanced Search (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/search.php?), you can also limit the search to a forum including its subforums, as well as limit your search by original poster and by post dates.

Quite useful, don't you think? :D

Also, don't forget to search for the same word twice. When you search it will give you the most recent threads, the 2nd time it will list them from the oldest date to the newest.
