The much neglected modelling desk

Now i know that we focus on models and how to make them, and rightly so, but what about a word on the all-important desk?

I've based my modelling endeavors in some pretty interesting surroundings: a closet, a banquet table, a ping-pong table, and the top of a deep freezer come to mind. :icon16: Finally, i took matters into my own hands and built myself a dedicated modelling desk. At last, i don't have to run to another room to airbrush!

Let me know what you think, and feel free to post your own desk or lack of. :eek7:

how sturdy is the keyboard tray when you really gotta cut something with the knife?

That's way to organized  What do you do with that exhaust fan? Looks like it goes nowhere?

My modeling desk right now consists of a lapdesk and a hospital cart! I built both the Viper and Corvette that are posted over in the completed and in progress forums sitting crosslegged on the living room floor. Hopefully over Thanksgiving I can bring my actual desk up here (we have the room for it) and set up my space like I had back home.

jtracing: the tray is pretty beefy--i mean, i'm not going to jump up and down on it, but i can put a bit of weight on it

mikemechanic: unfortunately, i can't exhaust the air outside, but it's coming through a furnace filter, so the air's a lot cleaner

Lonegunman46 - I thought mine was bad! Isn't it amazing that stuff gets built on our desks? I can't beleive it. Here's mine, and I think it's important to not that wherever there's models, there's supposed to be homework. Whoops.

Looks like someone else has a tamiya paint stand, I know I love mine. Willimo, has yours been indispensible? Cool workspaces, I'll get pics of mine whenever I finish cleanin it up a little.

Best $14 I ever spent on tools. The beautiful part is that the top detaches from the bottom turn table, and you can move the car body any which way that way, and it holds amazingly well. It's a great advance from my coke bottles.

I know, mine was 20, but even for that, it can't be beat! Tamiya paint stand owners unite! lolz.

I still don't understand why the people with homemade ones busted on them, tisk tisk....
Oh well, they don't know what their missin!

Nice workplaces!

Is that HO scale trains? if you dont want them try selling them, instead of letting them sit around like that.

So many nice desks and working areas, i must take a picture of mine when i get some batterys.

supratuner; yup thats one of my train sets I also have a n scale and another ho scale too. I don`t want to sell them and I prolly never will I love them too much. I had my model cars up there because I have no where else to put them. I was standing at the doorway when I took this picture...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/76maverick/mtrain1.jpg

... my room looks bigger in that pic than it realy is.

a little cubby hole for my birds...

and this is my other train set that I`m not done working on ...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/76maverick/mtrain3.jpg

as you can see I have no room in my room and thats why I had them cars on the train set :banghead:

A little story...
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73480Porch_on_bench.jpg
I took this pix and noticed when I was editing it, that the background was a 'little' busy.

Normal and what it looks like about twice a year (for a moment)!
Theres a stereo on the desk, a 20in TV to the left and a closet full of kits to the right. Posters cover every bit of space that will hold one, and theres just too much scarry stuff everywhere else to mention.

I got myself a 30m2 storage room in the appartment building basement.
Warm and cosy all year round and no disturbing stuff to steal focus.
The desk is actually equipped with a small drawer for the paint jars and stuff that's all over on this pic. Airbrushing takes place to the left of the picture where the decals are on pic 3. Have a smaller shelf on the left of that area to keep all decals, books and aftermarket stuff. At the other end of the room there's an old wardrobe that I use when spraying from cans.
