95 gts r33 engine in a 240 sx need infodrez 10-25-2004, 10:56 PM hey guys im not gonna lie in new to this forum and to the whole engine thing.... ive been into car audio for over 6 years but thats it.... i am stationed in japan and would like a little info.... i just bought a 95 gts five speed.... its the r33 dont know what engine it is of the top ofmy head... now i want to take the front clip with tranny home with me when i leave here in a year in a half..... what i would like to do is to drop that engine and maybe the tranny in a 240 in the states.... by the time i leave here the engine will be pretty built up.... also i just started to look into this so i dont have alot of info on what the price would be to send the front clip home with tranny and rear diff from okinawa ...... if you guys can also post some likes to any info on my car i would apresate it very much...... i thnk you all for your help before hand... jmrev 10-25-2004, 11:48 PM the rb enigine doesnt pass US emisions, so you woulnt be able to bring the enigine. Why the font and color? thegladhatter 10-26-2004, 12:01 AM Is it a GTST? If not...I am sorry to tell you....it aint worth shipping anywhere...let alone to the US. There is a R33 model of GTS that is HORRRIBLE! I think it is a single overhead cam RB that is a total waste of Skyline engineering. drez 10-26-2004, 12:15 AM what about the 180sx i am looking to buy one over here but it is not in the list of importable cars...... also either is the toyota supra..... does anyone know what it might cost to take a 180 back.... thanks fot the info guys you saved me alot of time and money.... hopefully the 180 is good to go... thanks guys... thegladhatter 10-26-2004, 12:24 AM You can't take a 180 back with you.....you can take the engine with you though. thegladhatter 10-26-2004, 12:25 AM Where are you located? I know where you can get yourself a great deal on most anything you want. matada 10-26-2004, 12:32 AM the rb enigine doesnt pass US emisions, so you woulnt be able to bring the enigine. Why the font and color? Exactly what are you talking about? An engine is not a car. There is no regulation on what engine you can bring into the states. I agree with Jeff on this one. If it is the DET variations (ECR33 chassis code) then it is a doable project. I would check with redneck383 as he has done a similar mod to his 240. You can usually find him in the street racing forums. jmrev 10-26-2004, 12:37 AM the rb engine isnt legal here in the US (street use), that is what im trying to say. Or atleast the rb26 isnt. Unless if your only going to use it for track. thegladhatter 10-26-2004, 01:18 AM You can ship it though and in MOST places no one will ever check under your hood to see what you have. As far as emissions go....cross one bridge at a time.. drez 10-26-2004, 02:02 AM well i live in florida in the states and we did away with emissons..... ill find out the engine exactly in a couple days .... what car would be a good option for the 180 sx engine... its turbo intercooled..... if you guys had to pick what would you all get the skyline engine or the 180 engine..... hey the glad im in okinawa man but i am origanlly from miami fl..... drop me a line at drezdaboy@yahoo.com...... thanks guys Dreamspawn 10-26-2004, 04:53 AM the rb engine isnt legal here in the US (street use), that is what im trying to say. Or atleast the rb26 isnt. Unless if your only going to use it for track. That depends on where u live. The rb26 is legal in Ky as in FL b/c the no emmisions. I've done checked b4 i order mine to drop into my 240sx VQuick 10-26-2004, 05:17 PM If you're looking to put the motor into a 240SX, check the 240SX forum. jmrev 10-26-2004, 06:02 PM :iagree: too much problems here anyway. thegladhatter 10-27-2004, 02:49 AM I would not bother with an RB20 in a 240sx anyway. It is much too big (in mass not displacement) to be worthwhile. If you are going with a 2 liter engine just go SR. If you are going RB25 THAT is a different matter altogether. my3rdskyline 10-27-2004, 05:57 PM read mine and the glad hatters "boat anchor" thread. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=213256&page=5&pp=15&highlight=boat+anchor my3rdskyline 10-27-2004, 06:05 PM its turbo intercooled..... oh thank god... nevermind then. you're good. yeah taking an RB25DET is a viable option and you can build it quite well also. I was going to tell you not to waste your time building shipping or even driving an RB20E, but this is a different story. I'm not sure if you realized what you were buying when you got the car but you made out pretty well.... wait let me guess you got it from BC? or is it that 4 door they had in front of US auto sales? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
