One reason to NEVER race in the rainGreenblurr93 10-25-2004, 10:22 PM Ok, this isnt exactly an "official" race. but it sure is funny! So im coming home from work at about 11pm on a main road in MA (RT. 9 for anyone wondering). it had just finished raining and the roads were still very wet. so anyway, Im just cruising doing about 60mph when this black ford explorer blows by me. No big deal i thought. Until he slows down to get by my side. His passenger rolls down his window and starts making a fool of himself as the driver pulls ahead of me again. Im behind the ford thinking what an idiot, wanting to race in the rain:screwy: When the light we were comin up on turn yellow. Right as we get to the light the Ford cuts into my lane almost forcing me to hit him. I quickly pull into the other lane and am now officially pissed. So thinking if i feather the clutch just right and get the car out of 1st then i will OWN this A-Hole. The light turns green and the ford pins it. sure enough his tires spin and i pull ahead, i look in my rear view mirror just in time to see him fishtailing into the jersey barrier. He bounced of that and eventually went off the road:loser:. Im not sure what happened to him because i never stopped, only went home thinking "that kid is no pro at drifting." - sorry for the length but i like detail. Sticky 10-25-2004, 10:44 PM Two kids from my area died in a Mustang because it was going about 110 over a hilly road (45 mph speed limit) when it was wet. They jumped the hill, lost control, skidded into a bridge made of steel, and wrapped the car around the pole; and they weren't drunk. Automatic 51 10-25-2004, 10:50 PM darwinism at it's finest. CivRacer95 10-25-2004, 10:59 PM Smooooth. Ha, he deserved it from the moment he sped past you. Stupid, just plain stupid. Well, guess it isn't a kill, but a funny death to the guy and his truck. Bahahahaaaa! Late... Andydg 10-25-2004, 11:18 PM I'da stoped and made fun of them. Broncodriver 10-26-2004, 01:09 AM That is hillarious. Little pricks deserved what they got for sure. i3o2Matt 10-26-2004, 08:43 AM hahaha idiots...dont they realize that once the back end starts to slide you countersteer and if ur not good enough at drifting to let off the gas completely?? i guess not.... JekylandHyde 10-26-2004, 12:35 PM Getting completely off of the gas is NOT a good idea in all cars & situations. I assure you, if you get off the gas in an MR2 (or any other reasonably balanced mid-engine car) you will induce more spinning. chevydrummer76 10-26-2004, 02:28 PM its funny when people dont know how to countersteer.......i had a friend in an 89 camaro try to hit the gas around the corner when it was wet so he ends up doing almost 2 complete spins right into the ditch RACER D12 10-26-2004, 03:53 PM So what would you do in a FR car? Besides counter steer? MR2Driver 10-26-2004, 05:19 PM "Ease" off the throttle slowly, not a drop of the pedal Igovert500 10-26-2004, 05:31 PM Explorers suck in the rain to begin with. My friend and I spun across three lanes of traffic, taking a righthand turn at 10mph with mildly wet roads. Not speeding, not doing anything stupid, just turning normally, and boom, we are facing a line of cars waiting for a turning arrow on the other side of the intersection. If that guy was driving like that much of a jack@55, he deserved it. xXxRocker5150 10-26-2004, 05:56 PM yea, I gota buddy who'se got a 1986 nissan 300ZX, n/a, but at ne rate, this dumbass is at a stop sign, and decideds to floor the freakin gas (it's been rainging all day, not badly, but bad enough) and he does a complete 360 and winds up about 4 feet away from the curb, meanwhile a cop at the stop sign is laughing his ass off, came up to him, and asked him if he learned his lesson, my bud said yes sir, and he drove away still laughing.... Mase 10-26-2004, 05:58 PM mr2s are only for skilled drivers from what i've heard they spin like a top...good times with the driving in the rain...i agree with automatic 51...darwinism at it's best.. Shadowman890 10-29-2004, 01:39 AM Yea, rain really sucks. I just got a 99 Miata (first FR I've ever driven) and have gotten pretty good at drifting in just two weeks, but it was raining the other day and I figured I'd have a little fun, so what do I do, a full 360. p.s. I thought I was the only person from mass. Where you from? Western Mass myself. mason_RsX 10-29-2004, 07:53 AM Explorers suck in the rain to begin with. Whats funny about that is they are big tough looking 4wd vehicles (most of the soccer moms want 4wd always engaged even when theres no rain and snow to protect their kids), but they are horrible in rain or snow...I pass so many explorers having traction problems in the winter, and in the rain clawhammer 10-29-2004, 08:29 AM Yea, rain really sucks.
