Rear drums are froze...this bolt goes in the holes opposite of the phillip head fastners...I posted a few weeks ago about the spindle nut on the front rotors, fiqured out that the spindle nut does not need to come off just to put new rotor on, but it looks like the rear spindle nut DOES need to come off for rear shoe repalcement, yes?

TIA, Tom

NO! you only have to remove the spindle nut if you are doing the wheel bearing or the like, but NOT to replace the shoes or drum. not sure why its froze, mine comes off very easy...

you can use the phillips head screws that you took out of the drum...put 'em in the opposite holes and push the drum off...

Tried the phillips head screw, but it was REALLY tight and didnt want to FUBAR the screw or threads in the hole.

Will try again after I clean up the opposite holes some....

Thanks, Tom

the screws on the drums are used on the assembly line to hold the drums on are they not? the 93 i got had the drums freeze on it... tryed to break them free with a philups scewdriver and lead malet ended up drilling them out. If the drums are froze and wont come off then take a rubber malet give it a few swings, check to see if the parking brakes sticking, or see if the brakes are out of adjustment and grabbing..

I found I had to get a p-3 size phillips socket for my 3/8 ratchet at sears-craftsman in order to back out those screws in the drum. Using a phillips screwdriver did not work.

lol..they don't fight me NO MORE!. I use a hand impact driver OBVIOUSLLY with the phillips bit..couple wacks..wire brush them..anti seize them..they come out easy next time..

I got the phillips heads out with a hand impact driver, no sweat...

then tried the phillips in the 2 M/t holes-thats where i'm talking about not wanting to FUBAR them.

But since some of you say dont use'em again I'll either use them to loosen the drum or resort to the BFH to bust the drums loose. (check the parking park too)...

Sound like a plan?

thanks again for the replys, Tom
