10-24-2004, 06:15 PM
there a few rare cars i have seen..Ive seen a red lamborghini diablo..red viper srt-10..and a couple prowlers :)

10-24-2004, 09:11 PM
There is an NSX at the university where I go to school. Someone else has a $100,000+ M3, awesomely tuned by the BMW dealership, loaded with everything.

10-24-2004, 11:07 PM
I see the same delorean every now and then. Actually saw it yesterday. Funny thing is, I know the guy that owns it, I just haven't talked to him in about 7 years. But come on, NSX? I see the same one every day, sometimes 2 or 3 different ones every month. I see Bentleys every couple of months, and ferraris too. Shelby Cobras are a decently rare occurence, when I see them they seem to be in groups :p

Whats that super rare porsche from the mid 80's or early 90's? I saw one of those at a gas station once.

10-25-2004, 04:53 AM
The other day I was driving down the highway through town (which is small...about 4000 people, not much happens here), and I was 3 cars in a row, A brand new lamborghini murcielago, new beemer m5, and a porsche gt2....I almost crashed when my jaw hit the floor...

10-25-2004, 06:23 AM
ive seen a detomaso pantera and a mazda az-1 both rare as f*ck the az-1 was parked outside my friends house

10-25-2004, 10:04 AM
Either the Lamborghini Gallardo or Ferrari 550 Maranello. parked next to the lambo and almost know the guy that owns it...just saw the Ferrari driving along in downtown cleveland

the rarest cars i have seen is 1 bright yellow lamborghini gallardo a about 6 ferrari 360s including 3 spyders. the last one was on this previous sunday ocotober 24th on US-20. i gotta say that it was the most beautiful thing i had seen this month so far.

10-25-2004, 08:01 PM
I saw a gallardo
ferrari marenello, and spyder
and I've seen a yellow diablo roaster

...all on sydney streets :D

10-25-2004, 10:13 PM
i've seen about 4 skylines, my friends dad has a shelby cobra relplica, my other friends dad has a NSX. I have seen some mercedes concept car with like all leather coverings on it. was a realy long car and sounded mean as hell, def v12. Saw a pantara, a Pulsar Gti-r just drove down my block one time when i was looking out my window. Met a guy with a 240SX with a RB25 in it. Saw a delorean at the movies last nite, and then atleast 60 deloreans at some sort of DMC dealership.

10-25-2004, 10:14 PM
i've seen other cars like Saleen S7 and some other realy rare cares at the NY car show 2 years ago as well

10-26-2004, 12:33 AM
Saw a bentley or rolls royce today.

10-26-2004, 02:32 AM
On the street?

McLaren F1 Dallas, Texas-long time ago maybe 3-4 years?

Maybach 62 Houston, Texas-two weeks ago

10-27-2004, 12:53 AM
On the street...Probably early Diablo VT or Continental GT...at a show it would be Ferrari F40 or Saleen S7.

10-27-2004, 01:44 AM
The rarest I have seen is the McLaren F1 LM, but I don't know if you could count it cause I met up with him and rode around some. The truest on the street sighting is probably a BMW Z8, I know thats not the best but I don't think there are too many of those around.

10-27-2004, 04:33 PM
porsche carrera gt, lamborghini diablo, lotus espirit, gallardo, porsche gt3, honda* nsx, ac cobra, ferrari enzo, maranello (bunch of ferraries some nice old once too), bmw z8, bmw (the 12 cylinder sport one), bunch of vipers, few maseratti s. Yeah i have seen a lot of rare cars, the reason is where i live there ae ferrari dealership, porsche, lotus, lambos and almost every othere car you can think of. Some where prolly test driven, but still seen it on roads.

10-27-2004, 05:27 PM
ferrari testarossa, a bently of some kind, lotus elise was going the opposite way on the highway.. that was cool

10-27-2004, 05:54 PM
Green Lambo tearing it up multiple times
Ferraris (360s and the occasional 550)
Vipers-rt/10 and GTS and a new RT10 a university professor
Hummers (h1) including a border patrol wagon
The guy up the street used to own a lambo (dunno what kind), but his software company tanked and he had to sell most of his cars, or so his kid says.

i see alot considering we have no ferrari, lambo, hummer or high end dodge dealer in town. They are all 100 mi away in phoenix, AZ.

10-27-2004, 08:16 PM
Whats that super rare porsche from the mid 80's or early 90's? I saw one of those at a gas station once.

The 262 unit strong Porsche 959 is the car you're probably talking about. Rare in europe and only a dozen or so exist in the states, most are going through legalization but there's at least 4 or 5 on the road, including a red 959S.

As for my rarest... hmm.. GT2, pulling out fo dealership and followed it on the street (only 15 or something in Canada) or Bentley Continental S/C I saw in LA, there's a bunch of Continentals, but who ever sees them drving around? Saw an Azure once too.

10-27-2004, 09:25 PM
Does a Dinan M5 count?

10-27-2004, 11:06 PM
Man it must suck for those who dont live in a bid city. I've seen plenty of examples of just about every car listed except for the Enzo and the S7. The rarest car listed so far is probably the S7 and CarreraGT with delivered road cars in the low double digits. Though I haven't seen an S7 on the road, I did get to sit in one at the Houston Auto Show.

10-28-2004, 04:37 AM
ok I live in detroit (the subburbs) and I saw a car there that was super rare 1 of 1 an early 70's can't remember the year ford country spire station wagon with a factory 7.0L T-bird engine the only one every made saw it at the Woodward cruise

10-28-2004, 04:56 AM
sometimes I see 3 Z8s a day. I always see m5's and m3's... oh btw, it was that porsche 959 that I saw. I didn't know it was that rare!!! I must've seen the red one you mentioned.

10-28-2004, 02:47 PM
rolls royce silver ghost. there was only ever ONE.

Bugatti from round 1910. there are THREE in the world.

Gold Lamborghini Diablo SE, 40 built.

on the outside of rare Ferrari F40, 1200 built.

Subaru 22B, actually, i wouldn't count anything where there were more than 500 as rare.

Maserati Barchetta.
Lamborghini diablo VT, and a VT roadster.

10-28-2004, 10:19 PM
Actually, there were only 20 gold Diablo SE's made. 20 gold ones and 20 brown ones. I have seen a gold one a few times.

10-28-2004, 10:28 PM
yeah i know, i meant there were only 40 SE's, wasn't really worried about the colour, theres plenty of gold paint in the world. A friend wrote off the last of one type of right hand drive ferrari dino. NZ roads suck, he drove it off a bridge. forgotten what year/shape it was. something about pinniferina cars and bridges, another guy i know drove his detomaso pantera off a bridge too.

10-29-2004, 12:57 AM
Anyone remember a Zonda?

10-29-2004, 04:19 AM
couple of SVT lightenings here in australia, they are all imported so i guess that theres about 200 in australia

Thunda Downunda
10-29-2004, 04:44 AM
In recent weeks I've seen a 1961 Goggomobile Dart (sports car) two fwd DKWs (1937 roadster & '54 van) an Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire (1950s) and a 1990-ish Giacottolo (V8 mid-engined supercar)

10-30-2004, 05:28 AM
rolls royce silver ghost. there was only ever ONE.

The Rolls Royce Silver Ghost was produced from 1907 to 1925 and came with either a 40 or 50hp. Most certainly not a one off. Though there is something in the back of my memory about that car being rare, maybe there is only one left with it's original bodywork or somethig? I cannot remember right now. The one I have seen was built in 1909 and was discovered in in the mid 50' as a recovery truck. The bodywork was then restored and replica panels were made to transform it to the 'classic' shape.

As for rare sightings, I think I am like Racingnut who sees a lot. I live on the outskirts of London and there are plenty of F360's, Marinelo's, a few Diablos, guilardos, murcilagos. Saw Chris Akabusi's 959 convertable....now that really is a rare car. The 959 in itself is rare but I think they only ever made something like 3 conertables as a special.

I guess seeing all the current Formula 1 cars racing round the streets of London must be pretty rare too.

I dunno, I can't really think of one car in particular that I thonk "oh wow, that is rare". I see these exotics and just think of them as 'less produced than the mass produced cars'

10-31-2004, 05:37 PM
mmm, i thought the silver ghost was the one they silver plated anmd did the endurance test with. the rest were just ghosts, but were mistakenly referred to as silver ghosts because the first silver one was made famous. anyway i saw it somewhere.

end to agree i see most cars as "less produced" rather than really rare. race cars are all rare (f1 and WRC) but there are heaps of them every year so i don't tend to count them. if there were only a couple of hundred made then i guess a car is rare, unless it was like a couple of hndred in that color with that badge, and 100,000 of the body...

10-31-2004, 09:28 PM
True GNX

11-01-2004, 05:49 AM
I saw a gallardo
ferrari marenello, and spyder
and I've seen a yellow diablo roaster

...all on sydney streets :D

I can add a blue Diablo SV in southern Sydney about 3 years ago
And I saw (just yesturday) a SILVER DIABLO SV!!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!

I only saw it for about 5 seconds, but it was enough for a live time of memory!

11-01-2004, 06:29 PM
I went to my sister's house today and 5 mins into my journey, a silver Gallardo comes round a round about. then 2 mins later a Diablo in superfly yellow with matching yellow wheels comes tearing down the road....think it was the SV, sounded beautiful.

want a supra
11-01-2004, 07:38 PM
Lamborghini Gallardo on the free way it was like this dark burnt orange color...saw for like 5 sec. then the driver looks over and sees me looking at his car and takes off.

11-02-2004, 01:14 AM
Once I saw this guy in a saleen convertible, and I asked if I could have his car... he said no, but at least he did a burnout for me.

11-02-2004, 05:37 PM
I dunno if many people have heard of a Noble M12 GTO...my uncle being the rich sonfa... knows a guy who had one imported for "track" purposes only but came by his house when i was over there once... and here i am driving a freakin cav..... o well, we all can't be rich,,,

11-02-2004, 07:14 PM
hmm...i've seen a delorean, a couple prowlers, a couple vipers--gts, rt/10 and srt10. i actually saw one viper parked on the street...lmao uhmm...a couple kit cars, driven a 1973 mustang (dont kno how rare they are...)

11-03-2004, 04:04 PM
I dunno if many people have heard of a Noble M12 GTO...my uncle being the rich sonfa... knows a guy who had one imported for "track" purposes only but came by his house when i was over there once... and here i am driving a freakin cav..... o well, we all can't be rich,,,

Noble's aren't particularly expensive, but they are Uber rare. Built in Africa, they come over here with no engines and can be legallized for road use, I believe. Most people opt for a Ford 3.0 Twin Turbo V-6 powerplant, but they come in a variety of flavours.

Still, seeing one is porbably equivalent to a Unicorn sighting.

11-03-2004, 11:03 PM
Well i knew they were too expensive, but i never heard of such car untill i read Noble on the front hood and thought WTF... and it did have the ford engine in it...glad someone has heard of it..

11-04-2004, 10:19 AM
just saw a red NSX parked in someones driveway... now believe me, this is rare for the town I live in

11-04-2004, 04:52 PM
When somebody mensions another car like testarossa, i remember that i have seen it too. I actually have seen almost every car listed on this forum. Its cause i live in a town where we have almost every car dealership you can think of. Seen a bada$$ baby blue hammer with 24" spinning rims and the only colors on the car were chrome and baby blue. By the way i live in ATL

11-05-2004, 10:01 AM
An old TVR Griffith 200 parked curbside one night in Annapolis MD.

11-06-2004, 07:11 PM
man everyone else talks about vipers like they are rare lol....theres a lot around here where i live. one guy even comes to hang out at the parking lot where everyone chills at. his is effin SC'ed with nirtous.

11-06-2004, 11:31 PM
I cant say that vipers and ferraris are all that rare when were comparing them to truely rare cars.

I have to say the yellow Lotus Esprit TT I saw one day, I would much rather have one then a ferrari or lambo simply because Ive only seen one yet I see ferraris and lambos somewhat frequently, like maybe once a month, but Ive only seen and esprit that one time.

I used to own a Bricklin SV1, there were only 2500 made, about 1500 estimated to still be around, and i bet about 80-90% of them either are in California or the New York/Canada area, so having one in NC was a pretty rare car. I never saw another one in person before.

11-07-2004, 08:51 AM
i saw a ferrari f-50 when i was 8. i have also seen a Gemballa GTR 650. and just a couple days ago i saw a delorean.

11-21-2004, 01:02 AM
Ive seen a Yellow Dodge Viper going down the thruway

1948 Tucker Torpedo
1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR
1953 Corvette
Ferrari 412
Aston Martin Lagonda
1963 Studebaker Lark Wagonaire

11-21-2004, 10:50 PM
1948 Tucker Torpedo

You actually saw a Tucker on the street?!?! That's pretty amazing!! I think that takes the cake in this thread.

Layla's Keeper
11-21-2004, 10:55 PM
That I did. Doesn't hurt that the Tucker prototype actually lives in Northeast Ohio. Guy actually built his basement around the prototype and owns a second regular production Tucker.

The Tucker I saw was neither maroon nor blue (so it wasn't one of his) but it was probably an owner who was a friend of that guy.

11-22-2004, 12:18 AM
I saw a BMW 2 series. 4 days ago. And I live in NORTH AMERICA. Beat that, suckas! Actually, the tucker probably does beat that. But I also saw a Lotus. Don't know what model.

11-23-2004, 04:56 AM
I've seen a GT-40 in england but i can't be sure whether it was an original or a kit car. I think it was original cos it had rims that looked really old. but I suppose the owner could have tracked down a set if they really wanted to put them on his kit car

11-24-2004, 02:13 AM
I saw a ford GT(the new one not the old one) on the road I live in royal oak (subburb of Detriot) so i see rare cars all the time It was burning the tires

Automatic 51
11-28-2004, 02:31 AM
I saw a Lotus Elise today, racing. so sexy. Autocross here in Tucson and i had to do a double take when he pulled up. Other than that I've seen a BMW Z8, couple Ferrari 360's, one Testarossa, yellow gallardo, 2 Evo MRs here in town. One grey Porsche 911(996) twin turbo, a handfull of v12 Mercedes SL. There's quite a few vipers and NSXs i see around town most every day.

JDM guy
11-28-2004, 05:25 AM
i've seen a mitsubishi that looks like a mini pajero but the badge at the back says "Mitsubishi Adventure". anyone here seen such car?

11-28-2004, 06:06 AM
I saw a really ugly mistu the other, and I really wasn't sure if I could take him in the lexus or not, 'cause ya know, he had some meeeeaan graphics and HUGE-ass tach stuck to his dash. I mean he could barely see over the thing!!! I didn't hear a BOV though so I might've been able to take him down. I guess nobody thinks anything of it when an ls400 does an 80 mph flyby trying to challenge. Unfortunately my car is also too quiet for anyone to hear me revving to 6k at the lights... :grinno:

11-28-2004, 05:24 PM
I just saw a red Ferrari 348 GTS about an hour ago, I understand that the GTS models were pretty rare. Does anyone know if this is correct?

11-30-2004, 11:39 AM
I seen a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429.

11-30-2004, 12:17 PM
the nicest car i've ever seen on te street was a mclaren f1 about 6 years ago in west palm beach, fl. i just got back from florida and saw a rolls royce, an aston martin vantage and an aston martin vanquish. i also saw a few vipers and a few xlrs.

12-01-2004, 07:21 PM
I saw a 360 Spyder by Duluth coming home one day in the Infiniti. I told my dad to drag him. There was no comparison, of course the Infiniti would win ^_^
