2003 Cheverolet Suburban Clanking Front EndDavid Blake 10-22-2004, 11:26 PM Replace intermediate steering shaft for clanking did not resolve the clanking problem. Any ideas it has been to the dealership 3 times and they haven't figured it out yet. Clanking noise left front end when go over small bumps. Very annoying. Thanks GMCMudBogger 10-26-2004, 07:32 PM Make sure all the rubber bump stops are in place, It'l be hard to notice if they're gone, compare sides. Also check all the sway bar mounts and bushings. Kru Bruder 11-14-2004, 04:17 PM Good Luck-I have a 2000 and took mine in to a few different dealers and no answers. A couple of them adjusted the torsion bars but it didn't help. I have put almost 250,000 miles on it and have had to learn to live with it. I haven't fund any unusual wear So the worst part is that it is annoying. please post if you have found the answer. sleber 11-17-2004, 04:33 PM check out this post http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=157635 I had the same problem and it was the intermediate ntermediate steering shaft, but it took the dealer 2 times before they got it right tuihut 12-29-2004, 12:39 PM Had the same clanking noise on my 2001 Suburban at about the 14,000-mile mark. I took it in to the dealer and they tighted up the intermiate steering shaft but didn't last long before I get the problem back. It is annoying but I think I can live w/ it after 50,000 miles more w/ this noise. ROY FRENCH 01-12-2005, 09:32 PM You Need To Have The Steering Shaft Repacked With Grease - It Is A Common Defect With Chev Suburban Stating In 2000. Factory Will Repack Free Of Charge Until Warranty Has Expired - Then No Help - I Have Called Gm Several Times With No Help. I Have Had Mine Repacked 3 Times In 105,000 Miles. hawaiilifesaver 05-01-2006, 10:23 AM I have 2002 Sub and have one clank when I turn slow. The dealer said it is not the intermediate shaft but sounds like the cross member under the oil pan needs to be tightened. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
