Front Suspension

I am also having problems with my front suspension. I drive a lot on really bad roads and go over spead bumps all day. I am hearing a thudding in the right front wheel well, and someone had said it is probably the struts. However, arent the struts part of the structural part of the suspensiton system, meaning that they do not move? Would it then be the bearings? Also, if I take a left hand turn sharply, if there are bumps around the corner, then i hear this metal jolting sound, as if two pieces of metal grinded once together. Then, when i straighten out the wheel, i hear a pop similar to the pop of a knee cracking or an ankle. What does this mean? Is something bent or are my bushings worn or ball joints dry? I am clueless when it comes to suspension. Any help would be great. Thanks.
