same thing happened to me in my '95 a few years ago. i couldn't find an new shifter button that fit properly, so i put some double sided tape on the old one and that's worked fine for years.

funny postscript - someone tried to steal the car, they managed to get it hotwired, but must have knocked the shifter button out and so had to leave the car when they couldn't get it out of park.

Go to a parts store.

thats funny about the hotwiring thing... even though it sucked to have sum1 hotwire your car, it must have put a smile on your face to know that they still felt like a dumbass for not being able to steal it. And on the original topic.. you can find that in a junkyard.. ive looked through a few t birds and most still had nice shifters.

I had the same problem on my 94 Bird. I ordered a whole new shifter through a dealership. Got the part and the shifter was a plastic-like material and I did not like that at all. So i took the button out of the new shifter and had to make a few cuts in it, but was able to get it to fit in the factor shifter. Everything is still working fine.

It seems that this is a common problem with the 94's. When I got in a fender bender this spring the button fell out and I could NOT find it. So I'm just sitting there with the car still in drive and everbody is already out of the car, I ended up using the emergency brake for a few miuntes while everything calmed down. Then I found it deep down under my seat.
