BMW Motorola V60i phoneiDriveguy 10-21-2004, 08:17 PM Cheers! Can anyone tell me if my BMW Motorola V60i phone (Verizon) that was used in my 2002 BMW 5 is compatible with my 2005 5-series? I.e., can I just have the dealer install it and have it work with the hands-free buttons & NAV screen as it did in my old 5? Thanks in advance for any input! Cheers for now! Cheers for now! ================================================== ========= Hi iDriveguy: Good Question about the V60 cell Vs iDrive, and I have a Verizon Motorola V60i phone like yours also. I belong to three other BMW forums here on the www, and I have posted almost the very same question you have in this forum, and so far no one has responded with a good answer. Oh yea, one guy did tall me he got the local BMW dealership to installed a V60i cell phone bracket along with BMW software for $200.00 and his Motorola Cell phone works perfect with his idrive! Now I suppose that could be true, but remember we are dealing with the genius Chris Bangle and his entire BMW design team, and with this in mind, I have my doubts...if 100% true, (and it was), how long V60 will work with his Idrive system! :banghead: Then I read where this same BMW owner that said hi V60 no longer recognize by his idrive system, or works with his idrive. When I checked with my BMW dealer about the BMW Bluetooth cell phone and Software in my Idrive to work in my new 04 530i and all the salesmen would say, it will cost anywhere from $1000.00 to 1500.00.! :nono: (Now this is only my personal opinion, I can almost bet that Bill Gates, Microsoft and BMW already knew the results of the cell working in the new 04 five series and designing the idrive that just not any cell would work for any length of time, without first going through BMW dealership, and if a person did indeed try this method, and working with the idrive would not last for long, and I guess they might had placed in the idrive some passwords, loops, and certain Numbers to imput in the idrive system, etc. and then go in order to activate the cell phone. and if the BMW owner tried this without going through the proper channels at the BMW local USA dealers, that the cell phone just installed b y the local BMW dealership, the new BMW owners would quickly find that the cell - In conclusion: I do wish you the best in you V60i cell phone Vs idrive! Be sure to keep me and other here at the forum how things turn out. :iceslolan Sincerely, Presley348 :smokin: iDriveguy 10-22-2004, 02:43 AM Cheers Pres! Your reply is helpful indeed! I will keep you posted on any findings. I did get the same quote as you for Bluetooth. However what I got was: an install price of &600 to $1,000 plus you must sign a "waiver" & release agreeing to disconect the SOS feature and that BMW is not liable for any loss, injury, damage, etc. form "overiding" this system. Presently the SOS sytem (software) is not compatible in N. Am with bluetooth hence all the delays, issues, etc. Can you tell me this: My 2 530's are 2005, I found on the vehicle settings mode of iDrive, that the Bluetooth function is "activated". Is your 2004 the same? Look forward to your repl! Cheers for now! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
