97 Tahoe Power steering pump

My truck has 157K miles on it and I think the ps pump is about gone. It has fluid altough it leaked enough to where I found it dry a month or so ago. It seems jerky at slow speed with a slight growl sound. I saw that rebuild kits are around has anyone used these or should I just replace. How much are they??
