Clutch Squeek!import_dream! 10-20-2004, 08:22 PM In my 97' Honda Civic, whenever I press the clutch down it squeeks, even when changing gears while in motion. Is it something important or do I just need to lube something? 94SolGrl 10-20-2004, 08:58 PM is it the clutch or the pedal? My pedal on my sol squeaked from time to time when it was pressed kinda slowly. Never annoyed me enough to put any grease on it. Mathizar 10-20-2004, 09:10 PM My 93 civic does that....its the clutch not the pedal that does it on mine. I have been wondering what to do if anything about it. !import_dream! 10-20-2004, 09:33 PM how could i know which ones which? when i press the pedal it squeeks, so is it just the pedal or the "clutch"? lol im confused snowman2005 10-20-2004, 09:39 PM my pedal does it too. its normal !import_dream! 10-20-2004, 09:42 PM I dont know if its so normal? There is no way to get that kind of lubrication directly on these areas without taking it off and properly doing it. If the squeek originated from the ball of the slave cylinder to the fork, then that should be an easy fix, but, still not as good as if you pulled it off and actually lubricated all metal to metal contact surfaces. With all that grease he put in, it must have lubricated something................but how well? I bet when he pulls his tranny off someday, it'll be one dirty, greasy, sludgy tranny. Also, I hope it was hi temp grease he used. Though the metal to metal rubbing without the lubrication is not a big problem. You'll just have to deal with the annoying noise. When you do finally take it off, there should be a reddish or brownish color to all areas that have had heated metal to metal contact. If you ever have the transmission off, just make sure the inner part of the throwout bearing, hole in which the fork lies on the ball on the tranny and the slave cylinder ball is well greased. It shouldnt squeek for years if you do it right the first time. Just put enough on, no need for overkill with the hi temp grease. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
