I am about to buy a 16OV.2 15". But first I wanted to hear any opinions on this sub, or any recommendations for another sub for around the same price.

if you want low, buy a 12 or 15 and tune it to 15 hertz

which sub are you talking about? the E.D or the XXX. What do u think of the 16OV.2 15"?

loismustdie

tuned to 15 hertz, either sub will give you low bass....

I have a 15" XXX in a 7 cube 50hz box right now...

Mannyb18b
10-21-2004, 03:34 PM
and......isnt 50hz pretty high for a XXX? so your sayin i should go for the xxx over the 16Ov.2

loismustdie

i wouldn't reccomend 50 hertz tuning if your going for low bass............haibane, why 50 hertz, i thought you were an sq guy......

ya, im thinkin like 25hz at the most. but probly lower than that, 15 is soundin good

15 is too low, that's HT tuning there

go for around 30

15 def. too low. I'd go around 28 hz it will play very low and be very bottom heavy.

ok...but what sub would u suggest. The 16Ov.2 is cheaper, but i doubt the outputis the same. How big of a diff. is it between these two

My point was, I am doing an spl competition later, and this sub still has amazing accuracy and still hits pretty low pretty loud. The point was you don't have to tune to 15hz... and it is not suggested. I think I will run my xxx tuned to 33hz in the long run :)

What do u think about 25hz? Any comments on the difference between the 160v.2 an xxx. The E.d is alot cheaper so of course im leaning toward that alo more, but if the difference is going to be tremendous ill go with the XXX

Haibane

No one knows the difference...

Mannyb18b
10-22-2004, 02:12 PM
so your saying the 160v.2 is just as good as the XXX? if that is true then I am definetly going with the e.d. Will the nine.1 push it to its full potential?

why isn't it recmended, i mean i see setups with the sub tuned to 15 and lower in cars and homes

15hz tuning gains you nothing over a sealed box...

How the heck manny do you assume that I mean they are just as good. NO ONE KNOWS YET!

loismustdie

Can you hear 15hz? My point exactly

loismustdie
10-22-2004, 08:31 PM
look muthafucka, he wanted low bass, and if you're tellin me that 15 hertz isn't low bass, then be my guest. can you feel 15 hertz? my point exactly.........

and if a box is tuned to 15 hertz, it ill make the bass several hertz above it much louder, and more present. like the high teens and low 20's. play that against a sealed box and tell me which has more low end.....

He never said that you couldn't feel it, and that it wasn't low base. He simply said you can't hear it, calm down.

He never said that you couldn't feel it, and that it wasn't low base. He simply said you can't hear it, calm down.

he used the fact taht you cannot hear 15 hertz as justification for why you shouldn't build a box tuned to 15 hertz. which is rediculous because it would, in fact, increase your output in the low low bass region.

i wasn't being aggressive with that muthafucka thing, it was a joke, wow, sarcasm is useful!!!

I understand lois, don't worry we don't fight. I still don't agree with you. I don't feel like putting up frequency graphs for you. 15hz is pointless. VERY VERY VERY few songs play under 20hz. There is a list of I want to say about 15 songs that do

bumpinstang77
10-25-2004, 05:33 PM
hell I can only think of a few songs that play below 30 hz. Anything under about 40 hz IS low bass. 30 is really low. and get winisd and look at a graph for 15 hz tuning then look at a low qtc sealed box.....like haibane said not much difference. If you tune around 30 hz it will hit VERY low. And the difference betwenn an xxx and 13ov2 is huge when your talkin spl. SQ both should be great with both although I've never herd the ov2. Anyways you'll be happy with either one as long as its installed right. i think the xxx is definately worth the money though.
