engine swap info neededlckycharm713 10-18-2004, 08:55 PM some quick info i need. in my 95 s10. i have a 2.2L. its at like 116K and it needs valves adjustment and a few other things. its just my work truck to go back and forth with. well, i am going to need a new motor when it goes. the truck is in good shape so ill keep it rather then buying a new one. i was just going to put a newer motor in it when it goes. my question is, would a newer 2.2 out if a new s10 fit? any changes i have to made? and how hard would it be to get a 4.3 V6 in there. any major changes? its a 95, 2.2, 5 speed 2wd, thanks busa_4 10-19-2004, 04:01 PM i would stick with the same year. there are always some kind of differences in engine years that haunt you later. the 4.3 conversion will need a tranny as well. your best bet is to find the same year motor to make the swap go smoothly. BlazerLT 10-19-2004, 04:10 PM Yip stick to the same year so you can pull on out and put another straight in. Easy, straightforward. lckycharm713 10-19-2004, 07:56 PM thats kinda what i thought, thanks. now, where would i get a good used motor at. do you know? BlazerLT 10-19-2004, 08:10 PM I hate to be a pain in the ass but maybe do some research on dropping a 350 into that big boy. Might be worth the extra time for sure. Just a thought... Other than that, search the local wrecking yards for one or search on ebay. Mikado14 10-19-2004, 08:16 PM Not sure on this and I am not raining on anyone's parade. The 2.2L is a 4 cyl TBI, is it not? If it is and you go to a 4.3L V6, you will probably need to change the ECM or PCM. Also, I don't believe the valves are adjustable on the 2.2L. lckycharm713 10-20-2004, 12:14 PM why are teh valve not adjustable, i never heard of them b4. well i want to put a 350 in it, i already have a 350. i was going to do that, but i need the truck for work, not my hot rod. so i got a 74 camaro im using the engine for. but a older s10 with a 350 is my next project. i cant wait. i want to find a way to put a big block in one. that be sweet with th400 trans. i seen so many of them when i went to the truck show in carlisle, PA. that was awesome. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
