this way?which way?...Oh! that waytwo4ty 10-18-2004, 08:03 PM aight im new here and i just got a 96 240 and im not gonna go for insane amounts of power.... gonna get an sr20 from a company down here in miami....no rb's for me i dont have that kind of cash... ne ways i was wondering how far the sr20det can go should i start getting power hungry afta i do the swap... the one im looking into says s15 sr20det stock 245 hp comes with 6 speed tranny ecu and wiring harness for around 4k, i saw other ones with 205 horses at like 2k or something but id rather start with the most solid foundation and just build a really solid car i can rev if i feel like it. they say no motor comes with more than 60k km so im wondering if thats about the right price... so im 18 ive saved a decent amount of money to spend on this car and i live in miami so im pretty shure i dont need 400 horses... this is the right way to go right?... engine currently has 120k miles but is in pretty dam good shape and ive driven a bunch lately and my cars engine seems to be stronger than some 240's with 80k-90k miles. extremedimensions.com has a gangster @ss r33 bodykit for like under 800 bucks... again im a nooby so dont thrash im just trying to learn as much as i can... two4ty 10-18-2004, 08:04 PM oops first time it told me it didnt post Amigo1107 10-18-2004, 08:36 PM first of all, if you haven't go read the FAQ, and second, welcome. I would go with the s13 or s14 SR, because they are cheaper and the only thing you can't use is the 6speed tranny and although a sixth gear would be cool. you can do just fine with 5 gears. also the 6 speed tranny is packed into the same size as the 5 speed tranny so the gears are thinner adn less strong. just a thought. just my $0.02 Pavlo 10-18-2004, 09:09 PM S13 is better on my opinion, it has bigger ports but a crappier turbo. It also does not have VVT which some say is better for tuning. And it is also a high port design which is also better for tuning according to some people. Pls research you can find all this in google. quote: google called, they said they are being unappreciated. R.W.240 10-18-2004, 09:25 PM extremedimensions.com has a gangster @ss r33 bodykit for like under 800 bucks... OH NOES!!!!11doh!!1 two4ty 10-19-2004, 11:43 AM i c... dam i was really looking forward to 6 speed tranny... u guys are right tho...much cheaper.. so basically the extra stock power is because of a better turbo & the s13 engine itself is a better foundation than the s15? suppose i just do the engine swap and then dont do nething afta.. i mean besides exhaust and some stupid stuff.. still betta to hav s13? and wats the deal with r.w. 240? sorry if my "quote" sounded noobish, please enlighten me with ur vast knowledge of body kits... Mediocrity 10-19-2004, 12:13 PM bodykits are tasteless. two4ty 10-19-2004, 12:36 PM i see... hardcore 240 lovers... i guess i might agree with u in a few months of driving my car... ne ways i was looking thru the stickies... - S15 chassis - 1999- We didn't get the S15 chassis in the USA. The S15 got the newest version of the SR20DET. It also has the T28 ball bearing turbo like the S14. The S15 SR20DET got bigger fuel injectors that were 480 cc/min stepped up from the 370 cc/min injectors of the S13 and S14. The S15 also got a 6 speed transmission, but is said to be weak with drifters due to the thinner gears and break around 350-400 HP. I haven't really seen this proved because the Blitz S15 has about 450 HP and is still using the stock S15 tranny. VVT was used once again. so somewhere on that page it said the same turbo was used and the reference to te 6 speed tranny was key for me. oh and if i get the 6 speed and it is garbage or breaks on me or wutever, is there another tranny compatible with the s15 sr? is it skyline? and if it is they cost a pretty penny dont they... sidewayzS13 10-19-2004, 01:05 PM yea id just go w/ the s13 and dont put a skyline kit on it thats no good two4ty 10-19-2004, 01:59 PM the more i read posts the more im understanding exactly wat im getting myself into... scrap everything, wat if i want to get my 96 240 into a sturdy, fun, and fast daily driver i wont floor at the site of an empty road... u know just power when i need it. billclinton 10-19-2004, 03:07 PM greddy turbo kit, you will be satisfied, then do coilovers. Makes for a MASSIVELY fun car. logik23 10-19-2004, 03:36 PM Also if you get the S15 SR then you need the diff to because that's where the speed sensor is. SHO411 10-19-2004, 04:08 PM I vote keep the KA, use the money you will spend for the engine to rebuild it, get a Turbo setup, some better stuff, and you get to keep the extra .4L of displacement. The Ka is'nt rev happy as a SR but with some good rebuild it will, and you get the benefit of the added Tq. Pavlo 10-19-2004, 04:26 PM I still prefer sr, it can handle over 350hp stock & reliable. My friend revs his in a g20 to 8700 when races. Very reliable too. And about the body kit I like the r33 one, look at my sig.., I think it looks very good on s14, another one of my favourite is the drift kit, those look good as hell http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/188351Nissan_Drift_Kit_small.JPG and here is the r33 again http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/188351p27320_image_large.jpg two4ty 10-19-2004, 04:43 PM ya man i got thrashed for the body kit idea... the r33 one looks cool to me... thats wat ive been looking at... know of ne places that sell a full one? cuz i saw one that was just the front bumper and diff sides and rear... so the s15 has the most votes since i posted the daily driver thing...nice thats wat i was leaning on... i know someone has my vision in mind with all the right parts, hope they post soon! i dont wanna keep the ka, thats for shure... i understand that i could get more power for less money but i want low miles and not to much work...u know get the swap then do lil things... two4ty 10-19-2004, 04:44 PM i also need to change the front lights... they are ugly...i want those exact lights from ur sigs pavlo! put up a link plz!!! kman10587 10-19-2004, 04:47 PM If you're just going for power and you don't plan to autocross/road race, stick with the KA24DE and get a GReddy turbo + intercooler kit. two4ty 10-19-2004, 04:49 PM kman? didnt i say i wasnt going for power? i mean dam lol, i dont want the same engine at all costs, its 120k miles and i dont want to rebuild... its pretty much just a question of which sr and wat to do to it... DAILY DRIVER IDEAS PLEASE! TY COME AGAIN Pavlo 10-19-2004, 04:56 PM my car is from superstreet, http://superstreetonline.com/featuredvehicles/3516/ two4ty 10-19-2004, 05:30 PM ok i read the whole article... tight work man. Still the key for me is the front bumper and the lights... so if ne one knows where i can get those 2 parts and has some ideas for skirts and rear plz tell logik23 10-19-2004, 10:28 PM Front bumper, I guess it's an R33, the lights are stock from a 97-98 240SX. You can convert the 95-96 to it with the following parts, bumper, hood, lights, corner lights, fenders, fender lining, and grille. (Turn signals depend on bumper) TatII 10-20-2004, 12:52 PM yup, you can convert it to a 97 using all dealer parts. however it will run you a pretty penny. if i wanted a SR and not really want to touch it, i would get a S15 SR. it already has 480cc injectors, so when i hit over 300hp i wouldnt' have to worry about upgrading injectors, and getting a SAFC and then gettin the car tuned on a dyno. its just alot easier. it also has a slightly larger turbo so you can probrably make like 330hp with it. more then quick enough for someone whos goin for what your goin for. yelnatsch517 10-20-2004, 04:28 PM He doesn't want power. He just wants to change the engine when it craps out. Where do you live? Are SR engines legal there for street use? If it is, then go for it. I think it would be better to get a kouki body kit and go from there. That should get you the front and sides your looking for. All that is left is the maybe the hood (if not included in the kit) and the lights. two4ty 10-21-2004, 04:41 PM ya they are legal in miami, thank god... and whew finally my orginal ideas are being validated by someone who knows wat they are talking about... oh and 300 hp doesnt sound bad... i dont see why that ant b a daily driver... i mean stock the s15 sr is 245, when i got cash ill put it into the engine.. like i said... daily driver, but i will want to burn a few idiots who think my **** is stock... naw mean? ne ways can someone give me an idea on the price for just doing the front lights for now? also wuteva power i get the engin to produce wat would help me get most of it to the ground... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
