Hi, my trunk light is not going out when i close the trunk. How can i fix this? Its draining the battery and have already spent money on a new battery. I have a '90 240sx. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

remove the light bulb....that is one way...let me look up on my fsm and see how the wiring set up and sensors are. I am thinking a button is not being pressed down when it is shut...let me check.

4 years ago when I bought mine the bulb was out, when I replaced it I had the same problem, so I just kept the bulb out. I think this is a pretty common problem.

That bulb's hardly bright enough to light the trunk/hatch up any way, just take it out and put a flashlight back there.

Is the switch depressed when the hatch latch is closed, maby there is a point on the switch that wears over time. Im sure its not a very costly repair on that. Go to nissan and take a look at some exploded diagrams of the hatch area.

you could also set up your own switch so you can turn it on only when you need it

I tried pressing the trunk lock when the light is on but it doesnt work...
the wires seem to work fine but the problem must be the switch inside the lock..
the car was recently painted and after putting everything back together this problem came up.
I guess I'll just have to take the bulb out :\
Thanks for all your responses!
