nice car

06-05-2001, 05:49 PM
This is the first thread for the MIGHTY TESTAROSSA??
C'mon, this was Ferrari's flagship FOREVER!!
A flat-12, mounted in the middle, 400+hp in final trim. Awesome styling, am I the only one who cares??
This car is awesome (A countachis better), but, I mean, this is insulting, INSULTING, to Ferrari.
Here are some pics, you dirty SOB's.

And to think no one posted here before. Sigh.

I just found this whole thing, the testarossa is my dream car, i want one with a little more power so i found out about the 512TR, oh man that is one sexy car. the countache is just plain gaudy, i wouldn't even think for a nanosecond about choosing between a 512 and a countache. there is a perfect example of my dream car, red 512TR with tan interior at and turn up your speakers 'cause its cool. anyways i hope this makes you happy. and call me crazy but i like the 512TR more than the 355 and almost more than the 360........i said almost.

06-13-2001, 05:40 PM
The testarossa is better looking than a Countach, but slower.
Liking that big flat 12 more than a 355 or 360 isnt bad, its replacement is the 550 Maranello.

I was just a little peeved, cuz we have Pug 206 discussions but I was the first with the Testarossa.

Chris, is there anything you don't know? That would be logical for the 550 to be the testarossa's replacement, I just never thought of it like that. i guess the 355 replaced the 348. now it all adds up. but still you could mod up a testarossa and beat a countache, but the coutache's uglyness wouldn't make up for its speed.

06-14-2001, 12:27 PM
People who live and interact with me in real life ask that. I learn new stuff all the time. But my old-car knowledge is (to me, anyway) sadly lacking.
SOme people like the COuntach, but to me, it seems too cluttered. The testarossa oozes class and beauty.

When I first (several years ago) heard 288, I thought baby Ferrari. Now, they are one of my favorites! Please get a picture aswell.

here is a link for the 288 GTO, its a pretty nice car. never really heard about it until now. but the 512TR still kicks it square in the pants.

06-18-2001, 11:17 AM
The 288 GTO turned into the Evoluzione (5 made) which turned into the F40. The 288 is better than a 512TR. Really nice car (if not as sexy as the 512)

06-19-2001, 03:21 PM
Sounds like you need a 512.

06-19-2001, 04:26 PM
did you see girls anywhere in my post?? :D hehehe.

Yes, I meant with beatiful girls, with tight buts and big racks, then pack 4 of them and 2 of use into a 512 convertible and go driving of to the really large cabin by the lake. OK, maybe you wont come.

I think the 512 (TR) is THE example of ferrari, perfect lines, the back looks cool, but the back of Modena and Maranello are better, but the headlights.... that's butifull!!

07-01-2001, 10:33 AM
Yeah, I really like the back end on them (and 348's). Gives you a break from the regular round lights.

S Brake
07-01-2001, 08:14 PM
I like the round lights, but I also like the 512's lights. I just like the 512!

07-02-2001, 08:23 AM
Well, yeah, I like the round lights too, it's just that the louvered ones are a pleasant change.

S Brake
07-03-2001, 04:21 PM
I wonder what a 512 would look like if it had round lights...

07-03-2001, 09:03 PM
The replacement for the 512TR (predecessor to the 550) is the short lived F512M. It had basically the same body, but round lights in the back. I don't really like the look of round lights on a TR, personally.

S Brake
07-04-2001, 09:16 AM
I'm split, but i think i like the round lights more, i just don't like the headlights of the 512 M, they just don't look very "Ferrari", i love the pop up lights on the testarossa family. but i like the headlights on the 360, F50...

07-04-2001, 09:39 AM
The 512M has always struck me as a bizarre "kit car" of sorts. You can clearly see the beauty of the 512TR underneath, but then there's all this "stuff". You've got the 355's "grille", the F40's headlights (sort of) and I absolutely hate those twist wheels.

The 512TR is awesome and the 550 Maranello is possibly the most beautiful car on earth; I just don't see where the hybrid mish-mash that is the 512M fits in. Then again, I'm probably being too harsh - after all it's still a 12 cyl. Ferrari! :)

S Brake
07-04-2001, 02:07 PM
Wow the things you learn everyday. the 512M is just a mix of the 355, F40, and 512TR/Testarossa that was put in a blender. it just has too many things gonig on. i like the simplicity of the 512TR. I love Ferrari's, i truly do.

07-04-2001, 09:51 PM
Yeah, the Testarossa really went out in shame with the 512M...the first was beautiful, the 512TR was even better with all the 80's design stuff updated, then the 512M kinda screwed it all up. Oh well. The 550's here now, baby yeah! :D:D

07-04-2001, 09:58 PM
I agree with Heep. The 512M doesn't have the unity of design you'd expect, at least after you can recognize the parts from the other cars.

07-05-2001, 03:59 AM
I really don't like the 512 M, the mix is just ugly...
I can't speak that good English, so I'll try to explain what I alo like on the 512TR: on the door you see those stripes, that's beautiful, and that keeps going to the back of the car, that makes it a little fatter, but it's really good!!!
And my favorite is the Maranello (GTS) and the F40...

07-05-2001, 04:09 AM
Hey, I'm about to buy a Ferrari 355 F1 Spider MODELCAR, but I can't decide wich color: Silver Metallic or Ferrari-Red??

07-05-2001, 05:08 AM
I'd go with silver, but that's me.;)

Welcome to the board, Vortigaunt! I'll see you around...:D

07-05-2001, 08:30 AM
Hey, welcome to AF!

I say silver as well.

07-05-2001, 08:47 AM
Thank you, I thougt too buying the silver, but I wasen't sure...
Silver is more luxe I think, so thanks for helping me out :)

S Brake
07-05-2001, 05:09 PM
I admit that silver is one of the most flattering colors for the 355, but i would go with ferrari-red, i say that only because every single ferrari in my collection is ferrari red. but dare to be different, go with silver.

07-05-2001, 07:13 PM
Maybe it's too late, and I admit that silver is nice, but like snowboarder, all of my Ferraris are Ferrari red. I like to be consistent and keep with the official team racing colours.

But then again, that's just me....

How many Ferrari's do you have in your collection? hey how about everyone tell us how many you have!!!!! As of now i only have 7 cars, F50, 360 spider, testarossa, 500 testarossa, 550 maranello, and 2 F40's. but in september i am going to the ferrari dealership for my birthday and i am going to buy some more models from their gift shop, probably a 456, 355, another 360and another F50.

07-06-2001, 02:58 AM
I have a:
Chevrolet Corvette C5 (Red, Bburago)
Jaguar XJ220 (Brittish Racing Green, Maisto)
Dodge Viper GTS Coupe ( White with Blue stripes, Bburago)
Ferrari 360 Modena ( Yellow, Bburago)
Ferrari F50 ( Ferrari-Red!, Bburago)
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 ( Silver, Maisto)
Mercedes CLK-LM ( Silver, Maisto)
Porsche 911 (996) Turbo (Silver, Bburago)

it's going to be much bigger but I haven't got the money for it yet... I'm just 13 years old so there isn't much work for me... :(

07-06-2001, 04:27 AM
In what scale? 1/18? Most pre-assembled die-cast cars are 1/18, but some are 1/24, and a lot of new ones are 1/43, pretty little.

I collect cars in 1/24 scale, but mine are kits I build myself.

07-06-2001, 04:33 AM
all are scale 1:18 (die cast-metal), if I make a model myself, you see all the glue come out of the car :D

07-06-2001, 04:46 AM
Yeah. I'd like to think I'm past the stage were I have to worry about the glue. Making the paint smooth and polished is what I'm working on now.

If I ever figure out how to take decent pictures of my models, I'll post them on AF within a heartbeat. ;)

07-06-2001, 09:03 AM
:) well, they are welcome!!!

07-06-2001, 09:10 AM
In Holland, where I live, there's a circuit that's called Circuit Zandvoort... Tomorrow (Yuli 7th) there's an event that's called Itali a Zandvoort, I think it's Italien for Italy on Zandvoort, anyway I will be there, there are a lot of ferrari's and I will make lots of pictures!!! To bad I can't scan them to put them on this site :(

07-06-2001, 09:39 AM

Ferrari F-40 (Bburago, Ferrari red)
Ferrari F-50 (Maisto, silver)
Ferrari 550 Maranello (Maisto, silver)
Chevrolet Corvette Convertible C5 (Maisto, silver)
Alfa Romeo Spyder (Maisto, red)
Dodge Copperhead (Maisto, copper)
Audi TT Roadster (Maisto, red)
1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 454 (ERTL, silver, black racing stripes)
1973 Cadillac Eldorado coupe (Anson, black)

I also have a 512TR model that I've been putting together for about 3 years now. :) I'm halfway through spraying the body in metallic silver right now.

I have some Ferrari models that I haven't even started working on yet. I have a 512 TR, F50, and F40. I really want a F355 but they are so hard to come by in 1/24 or 1/25.

1.its better looking maybe not in the way thats more beutifull but its more exotic!
2.its faster than the testarossa
3.if you compare lamborghinis and ferraris with the year they were made youll see that lamborghini always beats ferrari! say that the countach is ugly the thing is that is not ugly its a very rare and exotic car!
if you putt a testarrossa and a countach one with the other youll see that the countach drives more attention!

its an unfair comparison

u cannot compare all cars with each other
thats a big problem of the car-forums
people always want to compare cars...
you have to look at one and than at the next... don´t look at 2 at the same time

donßt wonna say anything against you silver! i hope you know whwat i mean and wanted to say!

but to answer your question...

the enzo....
once in "sport auto" (german car magacine) there was the murcielago against porsche gt2
a race on nürburgring nordschleife...
gt2 was as fast as murcielago with less than 100 ps

i preffer the countach!why?
1.its better looking maybe not in the way thats more beutifull but its more exotic!

This sort of makes sense. The Countach is not a pretty car. What it is is a car that screams speed and brutality while parked. It is probably the boldest automotive styling statement ever made (or at least the boldest one that was widely accepted...)

2.its faster than the testarossa

NOT TRUE! It was faster than the Berlinetta Boxer, but the Testarossa was consistently faster than the Countach. As much as I dislike the Camaro-esque styling of the Testarossa, I have to admit that, as an aerodynamic shape, it worked!

3.if you compare lamborghinis and ferraris with the year they were made youll see that lamborghini always beats ferrari!

See above. say that the countach is ugly the thing is that is not ugly its a very rare and exotic car!

Does not compute. There are a lot of rare and exotic cars made by Zagato and almost all of them are UGLY!!!

if you putt a testarrossa and a countach one with the other youll see that the countach drives more attention!

True, as stated in point 1.

IMO, the Berlinetta Boxer looked rather better than the TestaRossa, but the best looking mid-engine Ferraris made so far are the 308 and its variants; the best of these probably being the 288GTO. The Countach may have invented the wedge look, but the 308 made the wedge look beautiful!
