2000 Silverado ticking noiseRustybill 10-15-2004, 09:00 PM I have ticking noise, passenger side of engine. 6.0 L. Had it on my 99 also, along with four friends that also have 99's. Dealer says to drive it, no explanation, anyone have a clue?? Also have the K&N filter update, w/ flowmaster exhaust, anyone tell me if fuel mileage increased, or was there much noticable power gain. Thanks Rusty bkite2186 10-17-2004, 11:13 PM Well rusty im a diehard chevy fan and ive heard of the newer model chevy full size trucks with the 327's and the 6.0's having a ticking noise coming from the engine...I've been told that this is the lifters knocking.... if the noise goes away when you warm it up then that is probably your problem if it doesnt go away when the truck is warmed up it is probly more serious Rustybill 10-18-2004, 04:13 PM After reading all the threads, guess i'm stuck w/ noisy engine. Tham nks for replying. Rusty dpatrick 11-18-2004, 02:23 AM I have a 2000 2500 6.0 also. What you might have is the dreaded piston slap. There are alot of complaints and GM says its normal. Some do it , others don't. A few months later I put Quakerstate synthetic oil in it and it seemed to be worse so I went back to regular oil. Now a year later, for some reason mine has quietened down. I just put Amsoil synthetic in and so far it's ok. Here's what I've done so far -- Repaced drivers side power window motor Replaced oil lines from the tranny to rad because of leaking Broken bolts in drivers side exhaust manifold Lights on the stereo don't work Truck only has 123000 km I've always been a chev man, but I think the quality is giong down hill and the price is going up Rustybill 11-18-2004, 07:54 PM I have a 2000 2500 6.0 also. It has flowmaster exhaust, but I'm going back to oem, dont need the noise, original owner did add K&N air pkg, but I dont notice any difference in power or fuel mileage. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
