We have a 2000 S-10 Pickup with A/C that is stuck on "vent". You can turn the knob to floor, or defrost and it still only blows out of the vents.

Any ideas?

Kevin

i think the 1998 blend doors are still vacuum actuated. if you have a vacuum leak the blend doors will not change and they will stay in there nuetral setting. i dont think the nuetral setting is center vent. it should be defrost and floor. if it is a vacuum system remove the glove box and check all the actuators to make sure there holding vacuum. if they are, then you need to check if they are getting a vacuum signal. there should be a distribution block by the actuators with solenoids on them and vacuum lines going through them. each actuator is controlled by a solenoid. make sure the solenoids are working. once again i am unsure if this year is a vacuum system or motor controlled. the motor system is similar but symplified. the motors take the place of the vacuum actuators. make sure the motors are working. also check the switch as movin2stereo recommends. that problem is more common on the newer blend motor systems. hope this helps and doesnt confuse you. good luck!

Kevin,

Did you ever figure out what the problem was and how to solve it? I am having the same problem with my 02' ZR2 truck. I have replaced the control units (speed,heat/cool,ventspd) and it worked for a week then went back to stuck on vent. I am getting very anxious to fix this problem. If you could let me know that would be great.

Thanks, Bryan
