What's the difference between "power" and overdrive?rion 10-15-2004, 03:55 AM I drive a 1989 Camry I4. What is the difference between the "power" button by the e-brake and the overdrive button? Which one provides more power? Bossman 10-15-2004, 06:14 AM The "power" button changes your transmission shift points based on rpm. In other words, your transmission gears will wind out longer with the power button engaged than with it in normal mode. The "overdrive" button on your gear selector handle merely allows you to put the transmission into its highest gear (4th gear) at highway speeds thus providiing you the lowest rpm and the highest gas mileage. Which one provides more power? The power button because it allows you to get more power (rpm) from each gear as you build up speed. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
