rps at idle

sometimes when im at idle my rpms will pulse about 100-200 up and down from the 1k mark heard that can be normal but not sure. today it was doing that pluse but every once and a while randomly it would go up to 1400 rpm then back to pulse at 1100-1200. what could this be please give me some info. :disappoin

It is called Idle Surge.. the cause of it could be many things, cleaning the TB helped a bit for me. Search for idle surge for other stuff that could cause it. It is not going to hurt anything so i would not go change ever part that could be causing it. Not worth it IMO, unless you reallly cant live with it.

my eclipse was doing that too except mine was dropping to around 6-700 rpm.changed the plugs and wires and it stoped.dont know if that will fix yours but its woth a shot...not too expensive

Check your TPS sensor . Its usually the culprit of an idle surge. Either its dirty and needs cleaing or you need a new one. You can find it on the throttle body. Take an ohm meter to check it.

^^ Yes! Use an ohm meter... Don't try to adjust by just the screw on the front of it. :nono:

That's if that's the problem.
