i already have a question too. ok my parents have a newer silverado and their doors lock when they put it in drive. mine locks when at 15...thats not the prob tho cause i kno they do that. but when they put theirs in park..it unlocks. mine doesnt unlock unless i hit the button. my mom said they are able to set theirs. can i do this for mine?

yea..u can reset it i think....mine lock after 15 and then dont unlock until i pull the key out. Nice truck... You will learn that the 3 door becomes a pain in the ass. I have a 3 door, and sometimes u wish you had that 4th one if somethings in the back on the drivers side or just for people back their. but other than that...nice truck, i wish i had the leather too.
BTW...what kind of cover is that on the back? is it a roll top?

If you have the original owners manual, it should outline the procedure for the lock settings. If not, I'm sure someone here should know how to do it.

Nigel...its one of those where it rolls up into the box towards the front of the truck. im takin it off though and gettin a new cover. and yeah i have the owners manual but it says that it locks at 15 and for unlocking it says go back to step one. which is unlocking it with the button..

Congrats on the new member!!!
I have got the same truck, except a year newer.

On the door lock thing...
I tried reprogramming mine so that they wouldnt lock at
15, but it didnt work. Now mine does the same as yours,
it still locks at 15, and to get out after shutting the truck
off, you hafta press the button.
I was told I have to take it to the dealer. :banghead:

So that is all I can suggest...
Congrats again!!
P.S. You'll like the heated seats!! :grinyes:

Wish I had heated Seats :( Nice truck man.
Make sure you add a bit of baking soda in with your wax when you wax it. It helps keep the swirl marks out of a black vehicle. Not a lot, just a touch.

You do have to take it to the dealer for the locks. Mine is a 99 also, and I've tried everything short of taking the damn locks out. The dealer said they would do it for $125....needless to say they still lock.
