Anyone have any idea why, when I have a full tank in my 96 jxi v6 the fuel level indicator just starts flipping down and turning on the empty tank icon? Then it goes back up, icon goes dark, stays for awhile then does it again. It is not constant and it stops alltogether when the tank becomes half full until near empty. Is it the floatlevel in the tank or is the gauge in the dash?
I'm very curious and hate going to the dealer.
Thanks. :banghead:

Had the same problem on a Cirrus I used to own. The float level sensor in the tank had gone bad. As I remember, it was quite expensive to have fixed. Parts were pricey, and, tank had to be dropped to replace them.

So I checked in the Service Manual for Sebring.
The "Module package Pump and level unit" is faulty.
The Problem is that the level unit is one unit together with the fuel pump. Costs about 450US$.
