I just got a 93 Toyota Camry LE from a guy in NY. it had 165350 miles and the guy told me that the timing belt was "probably" changed between 80-90000 miles. So my question is when at the latest can I get the timing belt changed. My mechanic tells me that I need to get the timing belt, water pump and oil seals changed all at once as all of them will have the same mileage on them (he is giving me a cost of $650 for all these inclusive of labour).

Please give me your comments on what should I do? Is he right and when at the latest can I get the stuff changed.

Sounds to HIGH... Shop some other Toyota dealers for a lower price....

Shop around. I have had all of that done on my 95 for around $350. Once they get everything apart to change the belt the rest is already exposed to change anyway. Sounds like they want to charge you triple labor!!

i would change it when it wont start anymore, unless if its the battery.

or the starter?
