Drops out of 4th and will not go back in.gschretter 10-13-2004, 08:49 PM 2000 Chevy 3500 5.7 4LE80 - Auto My tranmission will drop out of 4th gear going down the highway for no reason. If I stop and start again all shifts up to thrid are really hard. If I shut the engine off and start back up it will work for about 10 minues. Any ideas? gschretter 10-14-2004, 04:25 PM What nobody know? Your all fired. Oh I can not do that. :screwy: Just kidding. I will talk to a tranmission guy. jumpingjack66 10-14-2004, 06:07 PM i drive a stick so i cant help except to say be sure you take it to someone who is experienced in these trannys. Whether that the dealer or a large well known shop is your poison but these trannys are more like computers then machinery in your year of truck. Could be a sensor or just a software problem that may need updating in your trucks computer. I have seen other threads about auto trans that just required a flash memory fix at the dealer. either way if you take it to a shade tree mechanic or a small shop not keeping up with new applications you may get hurt...JJ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
