Looking for Scan Tool Advice

I want to buy a scan tool that will work with Ford, Honda and Chrysler. Has anyone used an Autotap or other scan tool that works with a laptop? I only want to spend a few hundred bucks at most. Is there anything else out there that has good software and broad usage? Any advice appreciated.

local pawn shops may have what your looking for for pretty cheap prices.....i've seen the snap-on 2500 scan tool (working condition) w/ domestic & import cartridges w/ most connectors for 350.
