89 camry seat belt prob...kern 10-13-2004, 12:37 PM hello...my daughter has an 89 camry with the auto seat belt function...just last week it got stuck in the foward position. It can't be driven safely until I fix this....does anybody have any experiance working on these...any help would be great...thanks in advance. kern Bossman 10-14-2004, 04:46 AM My 87 did the same thing but it's been so long ago that I'm having difficulty in remembering the solution. I do recall that I lightly lubricated the track in the window frame in which the seat belt rides. I did this on both sides of the car just to be safe. Is your emergency release lever functioning? It's located between your gear selector and your emergency hand brake. You might want to check the fuse that operates the electric seat belts. Unfortunately, as you know, this condition is a safety risk and you could possibly get an equipment violation citation also. If I can recall what specifically I did to repair it, I'll post here. Sorry I wasn't more help. kern 10-14-2004, 02:47 PM bump...anybody???? 89CamryV6 11-02-2004, 10:01 AM first test the switch, if its not the switch then its a broken wire in the harness going into the door. i forget its color, you will have to test them all for continuity vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
