93 Regal-turning off engine does not unlock power doorsJohnny R 10-12-2004, 06:54 PM What might be the problem when the power door locks do not unlock when the transmission is in Park and the engine is turned off? All doors do respond properly to the driver's doorlock switch. Thanks in anticipation. Johnny R 10-31-2004, 02:19 PM where is the fuse located? sierrap615 11-01-2004, 12:51 AM i was talking to a guy a while back with a similar problem I have a 2000 SL2 with power locks. Normally when the key is removed from the ignition, the locks unlock. This no longer happens. I have to use the interior switch. The power locks work otherwise without any problems. They lock when I put the car in drive too. They work with the interior switches as well as the keyless entry so I am perplexed. Is there a fuse or a module that needs to be replaced or is it something with the ignition switch after reading this i suggested the auto-unlock was controlled by the BCM, and it maybe a programming issue, i suggested he call the dealer ship and ask, here is his reply After speaking with a tech at the dealer who would actually listen to my problem without making bring in the car for service, I have fixed the problem. He knew what the problem was right of the bat. It was a programming issue. I will list the procedure I used so that maybe it will help someone else with a similiar problem. Turn the ignition key to the run position, then hold the power lock switch in the unlock position for five seconds until the horn beeps to confirm reprogramming. This fixed the problem immediately. It was a very simple procedure that saved a service at the dealer which is good for me since I have an extended warranty that if I don't use it I get my money back at the end so they are always trying to get me to use it. So for minro issues I try to fix it myself. I hope this procedure information helps others with a similiar problem. Thanks to sierap615 for all your help. Your advice on the programming issue pointed me in the right direction. Learn something new every day! I love this car and it hope it lasts for a long time. Thanks Again! your programming procedure may not be exactly the same, but i hope this leads you in the right direction. johndmc 11-01-2004, 01:08 PM I have a 94 Regal Custom and tried this procedure - nothing happened. I think the 2000 is much more sophisticated than our older models :) I believe that on the 93-96 this function is just part of a mechanical switch in the steering column and may also be affected by the shift position switch on the transaxle. sheldonbailey 11-09-2004, 07:26 AM I just purchased a 93 Regal this weekend and I am having the same problems, when I start the car it locks the doors and when I stop the car the doors will not unlock. I am searching for a wiring diagram and will try to resolve the problem and re-post what I find out. FastNBody2002 11-09-2004, 09:39 AM I work at a Ford dealership in the Buffalo area. We sometimes have problems with the Taurus's doors not locking when the car is put into gear (some Tauruses are equipted with this lovely feature). The most common problem to happen is the failure of the TRS (transmission range sensor). It sits outside the transmission on the transmission case itself. It's a fairly easy and quick fix for those who like the car automatically locking or unlocking the doors. If you're shopping for parts, you can go here: www.genuineoem.com I've had good luck with them in the past. tmsnyder 12-23-2004, 04:37 PM Is there any way to make it _not_ lock the doors upon shifting into drive? That's the most annoying feature ever. DBSTTN 12-29-2004, 03:47 PM mY DEALER LET ME KNOW ON A 95 REGAL WHY THIS HAPPENS..WHY THEY BURN OUT THE CHIME MODULE ON 95 REGALS THE CHIME MODULE CONTROLS THIS AND OTHER FUNCTIONS...IT'S UNDER THE DASH ABOVE THE STEERING COLUMN vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
