Find one of thoose filters for coffee brewers made of stainless steel. It's about 0.5 mm wide holes which is a tight mesh of about 12 mm in scale. Or use a discarded piece from a Braun electric shaver if you want another weave pattern. Hey, why not just keep your eyes open after whatever stuff you can find in the most odd places, I always do and eventually you'll strike gold. Tulle can also be great for mesh, you'll find it in a fabric store (or what it's called?)

Good luck in the hunt!

I just had a look round the house and came up with this:

It is used for patching up body work on cars and can be found at general hardware stores (Clas Ohlson). If you look at the front end of a Peugeot 206 you will see that it is the same kinda shape and about the same size, even though it may look out of scale. I think it may also be the same shape they use on Focus grills.

Here is a picture of it on my latest project. Not sure if i will use it yet though.

IMO, it looks a little out of scale. Window screen may be a better alternative. Also, If you have any other rally, race, or Japanese kits (I've mainly seen the screen in Japanese kits, but I think that the new Revell tuner kits have some) check them for mesh screen. You could also buy a Revell tuner, that way you get the mesh, the kit and some spare parts to use on other kits. HTH

The majority of mesh stuff you will find around the home is out of scale, best to buy the many aftermarket types. I did a thread on a particularly good range a while back - here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=220211&highlight=mesh)

After rediscovering the original thread I bought some of this and it is excellent with more than enough to equip a few models :sunglasse

Scale Race Cars makes photo etched mesh in diamond and square patterns for 1/24 scale. Beware that the picture is very big. They are not cheap at $19.99 each but are photo etched after all and twice the size of a typical SMS photo etch parts set at the same price. The picture includes examples of both types some in the natural nickel silver finish and other painted black.

Funny you should mention this. I was at Michael's (the home craft store) today and found mesh wire of all sizes. It ranges from the coffee basket size mesh up to the size for a real car. They have screen type mesh and the "catwalk" for lack of a better word, type mesh in aluminum, copper or brass. Check it out. I found it in the section for modeling clay arts.
