Need Advice on my new stereo systemxterrakid 10-07-2004, 08:24 PM Hey, I just got my license and my dad gave me his '02 xterra. I have some cash so i've decided to put in a sound system. I've picked out my head unit(Panasonic CQ C8300U) and i want to put in some 6.5" components in the front and 6.5" regular speakers in the back. I have been looking around and i think im gonna go with Infinity Kappa 60.5cs components in the front and Infinity Kappa 62.5i speakers in the back. I'm gonna power the components with a Power Acoustik LT960/4 amplifier. Since this is my first car and first stereo im looking for some much needed advice. Im really just wondering if this would be a good setup and if not i could use some tips. thanks in advance gregory1041 10-09-2004, 08:02 AM Well, first off, I would start by reading as much of the posts in this section as possible, there are some excellent tips and advice out there. The rear does hold 6x9’s, so if you aren’t going to use a sub, the KAPPA692.5I would give you a little more bass. I know that the front doors have a very shallow mounting depth, so you will need to have the windows all the way down when putting your speakers in. They have unusual mounting points too. My 04 has 3 mounting screws. Something that makes things a lot easier is to find some screws that have the same threads but ¾ of an inch longer. I recessed the screws into the MDF , and it ended up splitting the wood. I have the 6 speaker system in mine and I am trying the tweeters in the a-pillar. I’m not sure that I like it though. It throws the imaging off and doesn’t give you a good center stage. If you don’t have the 6 speaker system and need to mount the tweeters, you could try mounting them to the door next to your midranges. You’ll have to watch it, there isn’t a lot of room behind the door panel. As far as the choice of speakers, the kappa’s are a good mid range speaker. They have a lot of bang for the buck. For the deck, get a Nissan 95 & Up wiring harness, and mount the ground to the chassis of the vehicle. The harness does not have a ground on it; the factory radio uses the mounting points as ground. Hope this helps ~Greg BlueAU 11-09-2004, 02:13 PM Will six by nine speakers fit in the rear of a 2000 model? I'm also upgrading my stereo. Any tips you could give me for a 2000 model would be greatly appreciated. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
