spray-in bed linersChevyLover247 10-06-2004, 11:32 AM Has anyone had any experience with a colored spray-in bedliner? I'm looking to get one to match my dark green chevy, but was wondering about fading? Any input is greatly appreciated. Amy Nigel215 10-06-2004, 12:12 PM i have a black one in my truck...its faded a little bit but nothin too noticeable. One of the guys i work with has a colored rhino in his ford. His is red, but it was already in when he got the truck so he dosent know if it faded or not. I think no matter what color you get its gonna fade from when it is first put in. I know with my line-x it looked soo sweet for the first few months...then summer came and stole some color :headshake but it still looks better than a drop in. nothin u can do about that besides a tonneu cover. Puna 10-07-2004, 05:43 AM Nigel i talked to the guys at line-x as my liner is faded also(black) they say they have a treatment to restore the black but it cost like a hundred bucks and THEY have to do it, for the price i can live with faded!! Nigel215 10-07-2004, 07:59 AM yea, that dosent seem like its worth it. I actually have a small chip in mine...its not even the size of a dime, but i would like to get it fixed. I just want to take full advantage of my nationwide lifetime warranty :evillol: Its funny, they dont tell you that you will need that treatment when you get it sprayed in...bastards Hey, You know how to get an egg stain off the line-x? Some little shits threw an egg at my truck while it was parked, but it all went in the bed. I dident notice it for about 2-3 days and not i cant get the stain out. any ideas? oh yea....theirs also a stain from that wax candy junk from the dollar store. A friend of mine spit it in my bed on day in the summer and now its melted into the liner. :twak: slacker_53 10-07-2004, 09:39 AM I, personally, am not fond of spray-in liners. I have seen all kinds of problems with them such as fading, peeling and staining. I also know that most brands carry a 'lifetime' warranty. Check that out before you buy. The warranty and installation is only as good as your installer. Peeling is because the truck wasn't prepped properly in most cases (installer problem). Ask how repairs are made if you ever have a problem. This bedliner material is tough stuff, but it won't protect your truck form being dented should you throw something heavy in the bed. My bedliner solution is to put in under-the-rail slide-in bedliner with a rubber mat so stuff doesn't slide around. I know that the slide-ins chafe the paint underneath, but it's usually minor and you probably won't have the truck long enough for it to be a problem. They do provide an excellent cushion to protect your bed from being dented, which to me is more important than a little chafing that you will never see. The spray-ins do look good when they are new, however the 'new' look does fade with time. The cost of a spray-in in my area is about $450.00 compared to around $175.00 for the slide-in and mat. It started to fade until I started parking in the garage. I think that if any of them see much sunlight, they will fade. jumpingjack66 10-07-2004, 10:27 PM When i had my rhino installed i was to cheap to pay for the uv barrier they where selling and i didnt have any faith in it as i grew up in arizona and the sun is relentless on man maid materials, fading just happens. I have to add however that after installing the liner i noticed the bed became much more stiff and this improved overall handling of the vehicle on our curvy mountain roads here in WV and a drop in liner wont give you that at all...JJ Puna 10-10-2004, 02:17 AM my old nissan p/u had a drop in liner, what i did was remove it and had it sprayed with ziebart undercoating, and put it back in, sold the nissan when i got the silverado, and the bed was still like new. except for stuff sliding around, the drop in was great the only real pain in the a** was changing taillight bulbs vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
