Slightly hard to start 1999 3.8 LTZCorndog Man 10-05-2004, 08:33 PM Has anyone else experienced this? I replaced the fuel filter and air filter. It starts and runs fine however, sometimes it needs to turn over a couple of times before starting. I am wondering if the fuel pump is going. I guess I need to look at the book on where to check the fuel pressure on this thing. It's got 90K on it and has never been touched as far as a tune up. richtazz 10-06-2004, 02:32 PM if you do mostly around town driving, it's time for a tune-up. Change the plugs, wires, pcv and see if that cures your hard start. Corndog Man 10-06-2004, 05:11 PM Thanks Rich. Doing just that this weekend. The dang plugs will be fun. jeffcoslacker 10-06-2004, 05:19 PM My '97 has always failed to start on the first try every now and then, and seems like if I roll the key all the way back to off and try again, it fires right up. But if I just try the starter again, it might take 2-3 times before it fires. Just once in a great while. Asked the service dept. why it does that when it was new, they said "'Cause it's a Chevy V6". I blame it on sunspots. cadgear 10-06-2004, 06:41 PM You know, my brother's radar detecter would go off when I start my 99 Lumina. Makes you wonder exactly what's sitting under your hood... jeffcoslacker 10-06-2004, 07:09 PM You know, my brother's radar detecter would go off when I start my 99 Lumina. Makes you wonder exactly what's sitting under your hood... I think they are picking up the RF field from the starter windings. I've noticed that too. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
