throttle body mod successzxdriver99 10-05-2004, 01:28 AM Well fellow tunerzzz, the 90 stanza throttle body conversion was a success!!!:sunglasse I had some "issues" during the install, but it all worked out in the end. Between the irridium extreme plugs, accel wires, sillicone vacuume hoses, and the TB, I successfully can drift my 88 n/a..... into a curb.:banghead: No damage done, just close enough to a telephone pole to teach me to try harder next time.:ylsuper: P.S. I'm still looking for solid info on urethene bushing sets eg. names, prices, and satisfied customers. you guys are awsome. keep it real DeleriousZ 10-05-2004, 02:37 AM w00t w00t!! nice man, what i'm looking for is MORE DETAIL! what do you mean by issues with the install? something to do with cruise control? also, isn't the normal tb swap with a 240sx? looks like it's time for me to go walking around the junkyard to see if i can find me a stanza... how much did the whole swap cost? oh.. and how much of a difference did you actually feel? :D thx! DBSS_Gohan 10-05-2004, 07:57 AM Yeah, more details!!! Howd you install it? Is it better than the 240sx tb conversion? And youv got an automatic? Hows the power feel anyway? I ask cause you wanna put in a remote start, I heard its illegal to put in a manual, but Im gonna do it to mine anyway, lol. k3smostwanted 10-05-2004, 01:38 PM i dont think you can put it in a manual. the clutch has to be down to start it. im sure there is some way to get around by slicing into the wire that signals to the car that the clutch is down. eh...who knows? 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 02:02 PM Good job! BTW: I heard something about porting and polishing TB's for power gain? True or false? zxdriver99 10-05-2004, 02:07 PM Yeah, more details!!! Howd you install it? Is it better than the 240sx tb conversion? And youv got an automatic? Hows the power feel anyway? I ask cause you wanna put in a remote start, I heard its illegal to put in a manual, but Im gonna do it to mine anyway, lol. I dont know any thing about the 240 conversion, but mines a 5spd and everything was ok during the install exept for me being a dumb ass. the collector gasket moved when i put in the bolts, it didnt seal and even inhaled part of the gastket(it was only a paperone)so I had to take it apart, make a new gasket, and put it all back together. The only thing I see there being a broblem with is the coolant lines to the TB. the nipple in the left side of the stanza TB faces forward, away, from the intake side, backwards from where the coolant hose comes from. on the right side it comes out to the side, but on the 300 TB it comes out o the back too. I didnt want hot water warming up my cool air, so I by-passed the coolant from the TB using a nifty u shaped piece of pipe to connect the two hoses. Now, i still rotated the nipple to face backwards so I can easily re-connect the hoses to the TB for when its gets exessivly cold up here in the land of ice and snow. Also the nipples for the coolant are SMALLER on the stanza TB than on the 300TB. so take that into account. MY CAR IS DEFFINATLY FASTER. WHILE ATTEMPING TO DRIFT AT 5:00PM ON A WARM DRY DAY IN MY N/A 300, I ACCIDENTLY DID A DONUT ON DRY PAVEMENT. BEFORE THE MOD I COULD BARELY GET ONE DRIVE TIRE TO BREAK TRACTION DRIVING IN CIRCLES. now for the remote start... as far as I know they are not illegal for manuals, perhaps in part because there are safty 'actions' you have to do to opperate the remote start. like; ebrake has to be on fisrt then the clutch has out, then with the engine running and trans in nutral, push a button on the remote, then turn the ignition off and take out the key, get out and hit the arm button. then the engine will shut off and you can then start the car with the remote. now, I've heard that you can now get autostarters for manuals that dont have all those steps so do your homework. zxdriver99 10-05-2004, 02:14 PM Good job! BTW: I heard something about porting and polishing TB's for power gain? True or false? yes you can port and polish anything, but is it worth it??? TB's are difficult because of the throttle valves and any vacuum oriffices. these are precicely machined(especialy the TV's) porting is easier done on heads intakes and manifolds because it doesn't need to be perfect zxdriver99 10-05-2004, 02:17 PM I forgot to say about the TB conversion, the flange on the collector is slightly smaller in diameter than the out put on the TB. I used a double cut half round bastard file to even it out. it took five mins. But i wouldn't say it was absolutly nessesary 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 08:12 PM yes you can port and polish anything, but is it worth it??? TB's are difficult because of the throttle valves and any vacuum oriffices. these are precicely machined(especialy the TV's) porting is easier done on heads intakes and manifolds because it doesn't need to be perfect I wonder how much of a power gain you can get... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? :: pondering :: :naughty: DeleriousZ 10-05-2004, 11:03 PM so how big is the stanza tb? is it larger than the 300's? gohan and i were discussing it and i couldn't figure it out... care to inform us? i think the 240's is 60mm whereas the 300's is 54mm... zxdriver99 10-06-2004, 01:50 AM You are absolutly, right I just measured the stanza collector flange and its 60mm and my old 300 TB and its 54mm. perhaps the 240s TB and the one from the stanza are the same:dunno:. in either case I messed up in my post on the size of both. i apologize for the mass confusion and resulting anarchy.:nutkick: DeleriousZ 10-06-2004, 02:15 AM yeah yeah i found the info that i was looking for on some random site earlier today, i shoulda posted something up about it... and yes you're right, the tb for the 240sx and the stanza are the exact same unit.. is there a specific gasket that you can use when bolting the tb to the intake collector? or do you just have to find some high grade rubber/metallic gasket material and make your own? zxdriver99 10-06-2004, 05:47 PM i heard you just jet the gasket for the TB youre putting in. my gasket came out intact so I used a little "ultra copper" high temp RTV sealant and it works fine. DeleriousZ 10-06-2004, 10:01 PM hmm, i kinda doubt mine's gunna be in good condition so maybe i'll go ahead and order a gasket from nissan for like $5295790234023... or maybe a generic gasket from parts store and cut it to the right shape or something.. who knows.. MiamiMaxima 10-06-2004, 10:06 PM yo im lookin to see if anybody can help me out on how to hook up a 1996 automatic nissan maxima im open to any advice Broke_as_**** 10-06-2004, 10:14 PM Well there was someone around here that had owned a Maxima or something, try the Maxima section, they have plenty of people.
